Hey guys,
I am considering modding the xbox i got from mountain dew. (no not the bright green one) It is definitely a 1.6, manufactured in june. I have been looking over the modchip forums and people seem to be having a lot of problems with chips. I would like a dvd tray flashable chip. Also i need the ability to play xbox live on this system. Did i mention price is a factor, though definitely not the most important. I figure a modchip is only a couple bucks more than a dvd playback kit, but far more functional. I would also like to be able to rip my games to my hdd or play backups. I hope you will excuse my somewhat novice questions. I only got the box a few days ago. Anyone know when the Xecuter 3 is scheduled to hit?

I am trying to decide between X-bit from easybuy2000, X-Ecuter 3, smartxx 2 and Xenium ICE.
I am heavily in favor of smartxx V2. This one does it all.. I am still undecided at the moment.
One of my xboxes has the first SmartXX chip and I am happy with it.
I have a number of years of experience working in component level repair so it shouldn't be to bad for me to try an upgrade my self. It is coming down to features and quality. People seem to have some problems on most of the mods. I am interested in knowing which is the most stable and reliable mod chip.
From what I have read all the ones I mention above can handle what you want to to with your xbox.

hey guys,
The best way to explain it really is to say ALL MODCHIPs are exactly the same apart from the obvious additional features that the latest chips provide for example: Custom OS, LED Front Panels, XboxLive Protection, switches/banks and different installation methods..
If you are a newbie i always recommend a NON SOLDIER modchip like the xecutor etc..
I have a 49LF020 modchip which was made by myself and the chip is actually soldiered directly to the M/Board.. I have no need for all the additional features at all really.. I can hardwire my own..
I have already added the XBOX HDD Activity Mod so that my power light flashes when my XBOX HDD is accessed.
anyway, thats just my 5 cents.. probably didnt help you at all did i.. heheh lol

Nope you didn't... just kidding!
You are right.. but when I worked on Wang products to do things they were not designed to do or enhance then in some way my work was exceptional. However, other competitors mods of the same products sucked and I am not just saying that. We had to repair may other companies work. That is way the company C.A.T.E. Inc. , my fathers company, still exists doing the repair and upgrading Wang products to this day.
Well to add to your point all the major mod chips are well made. I do have thoughts of fabricating my own mod chips as we have the equipment to do to so but I am busy with the hosting business.
Well I guess I be trying out the Xenium ICE chip as realmccloy has the supper package and I hope to get one. It will be a good way for me to see how all this works since I may never actually have time to do my own mod. _________________ 10% VIP Discount (Coupon Code: HQ-VIP-001 ) - Signup for web hosting at www.TweakedHosting.com/clients/aff.php?aff=004 and earn the HQ network of sites recurring income!

Hi,
Hopefully if realmccloy still has that particular xbox he will throw in the XBOXHQ AUTO INSTALLER and some other goodies for you on a dvd-r and give you a quick run through. If you ever have to mod a xbox again this dvd-r will make things easy for you.. Its also good if you ever have problems with your own xbox.. It can rebuild the entire HDD and copy all the required files ready to go..
anyway, gotta run coz i have a few VIP Support Tickets to reply to..

Hey guys, hows everyone doing?
What really made me run to the Xenium when I bought my first machine was the xbox live issue. I liked not having an external switch to worry about. But, after I got into doing the hardware installs myself what brought be back to the Xenium was the OS, the ease of flashing (no programmer needed), and the plethora of documentation that I could find on the chip.
I have serious hours on my machine and this puppy has never given me one issue, at all! My daughter is on this machine everyday. My nephews come over and play countless hours on the weekend and still I have no problems with this machine.
No matter what you are shopping for whether it's a modchip, a car, or a left handed smoke shifter..HA... you pretty much go with the same philosophy. If it aint broke don't fix it. So, that is why I usually stick with the Xeniums. Now, I have heard very good things about the Xecuter chips, but I have no personal experience with them. Install isn't an issue at all, I just mean I don't know how their long term performance is, but I would imagine it's favorable.
I read these forums everyday and as of late I have seen a lot of people having problems getting a few types of chips ready to go. That's another thing I look at. Now, I am not saying these chips are bad...I'm just saying if they were easy to flash and had ample documentation on them then we wouldn't be getting so many questions/issues with them. I have never sold a product by talking badly about another. I'll put any chip in a machine if someone wants it, but I'll always plug the Xenium due to my personal experiences and preferences. I truly have never met anyone that has had a bad thing to say about Xeniums or Xecuters. It just boils down to a few things that set them apart. Once you get those ironed out and pick one, then your end result will be the same. Your machine will run unassigned code...which is the whole idea behind a mod to begin with.
I give the xbox-hq autoinstaller already burned on a DVDR to every person who gets a machine chipped from me. That way if HD corruption takes place you have immediate relief. I also give phone support too. I have done machines for several of our members here and so far they all seem pretty happy.
