first, i have a auf softmod xbox. second im using xboxhdm. okay, i did it the same waylike i did my 80 gig and when i try to lockhd -a it command completed but it also says
security supported yes
security enabled yes
security locked no
then when i put it in the xbox i get error 7.

i switched the jumper around and it goes from error 7 to error 6

Be sure when building the hdd with xboxhdm, the jumper is on master. When you are ready to hook it up to the xbox, the jumper should be in cable select.
You may want to check the IDE cable for any faulty pins or wires.

i got a 80 gig in my box now and that works fine.so i guess my wires r ok. anything else?

i checked the compatibility chart and alot of people got the same hdd and used xboxhdm. is there a way to disable the hdd security so i can lock it?

i tried it at the locking prompt and when i typed yes it said aborting and when i typed y it said command complete but when i try to unlock it it says error drive not locked.but when i reboot it says its locked and i have to unlock it.but it still wont work in xbox. error 7 and 6
