ok, so I added my xbox to a PC case shown here

and, I couldnt get the cheap ATX PSU that came witht he case to power anything so I took it out.

I wanted to know iff someone thought me taking 2 1.0 xbox power supplies and woreing only the ground and power on wires togetehr from both psus, if it would work to power only my extra HDD's, lights and fans?

Right now with the one power supply and the 6 fans, lcd, crap load of light.. it makes everything lag on start up and some games wont work correctly.

I just want to see if it would work the same as wiring 2 ATX PSus togetehr.

thanks in advance.

6 fans is a bit over kill for a xbox thats in a pc case, but its a mean looking unit I might add though. Try disconnecting a few fans and see if that works.

Im still gonna add more stuff, thats why I need the extra PSU. Im nowhere near done Smile

But, yeah, I agree 6 fans is overkill. I mean hell, I leave it on noe for 6-8 hours staright just streaming music or whatevern and it never gets above 115 degrees.
I got so much more to do to it, and Ive allready had 3 people from "another site" offer me $500 to do it for them. talk about lazy lol

From my experience from building computers is usually more fans dont keep it cooler, it just runs hotter, from all the turbulant air flow.

on an atx psu you have to splice the green wire and any of the blacks together on the 20pin p1 connector to make it power any peripherals. as for the xbox psu, its the same concept. you are going to splice the white wire with any of the black wires. you can also google something to the effect of: dual psu relay diagram, to find a way for only one push of the power button to enable both psu's. i hope i was at least a little bit of help.

now a question for you. how did you get that lcd to work with your xbox? i know about the xlcd, and all that. is that an HD44780 controlled lcd, and if so what chip did you use with it? thanks for all the help.

thanks for showing interest.

It is a crystal fonts with a Spi2par adapter solder on hooked up to a xenium ice chip. Only cost about $30 total to make.

I appreciate the response also. Every other place I have asked this question everyone asks why did i put it into a PC case, or why not just use the ATX.

Today, I took the metal box the ATC psu was in and cut it up and flatened the bottom out and layed a foot long by 7 inch wide piece of fiberglass. I then securde that psu down and ran the power cord out through the original plus space.
Now Im just waiting for the 2nd PSU before I finish anything.

1 thing, I had a perfectly working HDD activity light on it, and today it stopped working. I changed the bulb, added more, put on resistors... What could have killed the signal coming from the 39th wire on the ide cable?
