Alright, i've decided a bigger hard drive is a must for my xbox. there's only one problem: I don't know what Hard Drives will work in the xbox.

I think it might be an ATA / EIDE drive, but could somebody confirm this?

Thanks!

Eddie

yes only ide hard drives will work in an xbox. also make sure to check out the site a little more first cause if you did you would have seen the link titled "HardDrives" http://xbox-hq.com/html/modules.php?name=Xbox_HardDrives near the top of the xbox-hq page. it pretty much lists all the HDs that will or won't work in an xbox based on peoples' experiences. hope that helps.

ok i was just checking. Wink personally though, i recommend a seagate hd because they have 5 year warranties on them and from my experiences have been very fast and reliable.

Yeah, I'm looking on ebay, and i found a Seagate SATA hard drive for a really nice price that ends in a few hours, I'm just making sure that a SATA hard drive will work in my xbox =P

It will, right? i wont need any adapters?

Eddie

eddie i take it u never opend up ur xbox right?? it uses ide cables there for sata /pata wont work.. however i been hearin tha u can put a adapter and making sata work.. HOWEVER i recommend just go to staples or newegg.com or any other eletronic store for hds.. i'v seen on staples a 200gb internal ide maxtor for around $40 after rebates or $80 in stores.... and this is a good drive as i made about 6 or so of these paticular hds from maxtor... so i'd say just keep a look out on staples circuit city office max newegg or officedepot.... u'll find a hd u like and for a decent price too! Very Happy

Actually i HAVE opened up my Xbox, i simply have limited knowledge of what SATA versus ATA versus IDE look like

So I now know that SATA wont work in my Xbox. will ATA work? IDE? EIDI? Ultra ATA?

If i could just get an answer to that question, that would be great

Eddie
