I installed an Xecuter 2.3b Lite and a 120GB Hard drive. When I turn the Xecuter off, the XBox will not start up. I get an message that it needs servicing. I think it has something to do with locking the drive and the drive/motherboard serial number. How do I fix it so that I can turn the mod off and use the XBox normally?

Yes, you need to lock the HD. Pop in an auto-installer (like the new Xbox-hq installer), which has the feature on it. Hopefully it will work with that. If it doesn't the HD can still be locked but the process is a little more difficult. _________________ XBOX v1.1 - Philips DVD

I tried locking it with config magic, but it did not seem to make a difference. Does this match the password between the motherboard and the hard drive?

I'm not sure how it works. Are you using the original HD or is this an upgrade? (an upgrade is my guess).
Did you use an auto-installer to rebuild a retail HD? The box obviously wont boot to the xbox dash if it isn't there.
I am at a loss if you have everything, but it still wont work. Your HD might not be lockable.
Hang in there. Someone might know how to fix it. _________________ XBOX v1.1 - Philips DVD

Hi Steve69,
Do us a favour and add your signature.. We need to know you full setup without having to ask you all the time.
When I turn the xbox on without the mod chip enabled, I get this message: "Your XBox requires service. Please call XBox customer support", in many languages. Note that it seems to be working fine (with a couple small problems) with the mod chip enabled. _________________ XBOX v1.0

What error number are you seeing in the upper corner?? My bet is error 13 or 21.
I would venture to say you have a MS Dash issue.
Try to reinstall your MS Dash via the autoinstaller. _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter

I installed the MS Dashboard from the autoinstall disk. Now, when I turn it on with the mod chip disabled, I get the xbox logo, then green screen that fades from light around the edges to dark in the middle with a spiderweb over the whole thing. Then it just sits there while the greens change slightly. _________________ XBOX v1.0
