I used to have an old HP machine (windows 200) that i just got rid of because of big display problems and i got a new computer (windows xp) and i was wondering if i could just plug in my old HP hard drive into my new computer with out problems...

If you're gonna plug the hard drive in and use it as a second hard drive for storage, there shouldnt be any problems. Just make sure you check that the jumpers are set right... I'd get what files I wanted or needed from it, then format it so I'd have maximum capacity for storage.
If you're wanting to replace the Windows XP hard drive with it and run Windows 2000 "as is".....that might work and might not. See the Windows 2000 hard drive is loaded with the drivers and specs for your old computer. It "might" be able to pull up the right drivers for the new computer, Windows 2000 has a pretty large driver database.
If you're wanting to plug it in as a second hard drive "as is" and dual boot XP and 2000......dunno if that would work either. You might could get it to work by editting the boot.ini on the XP hard drive to add Windows 2000.
