Anyone now how to Fix This problem:

My Drive tray not open when the Eject button is pushed. I have to manually open the tray if a disc isn't in the Drive. If i leave a Disc in the drive then the tray will open on it's own.

I put a couple of disc's in and it loaded up both of them with no problem just a little noisy from the laser moving back and forth though.

Thanks

Sounds like your rigging might be going bad. Give me some more info, what type of drive is it? What dashboard are you using? Even my samsung 616t decides every once in a while that it's not gonna open, then I just gottta kick it in it's proverbial teeth... IE do it again....

Yup, QTips and alcohol. Be extremely careful when taking apart the DVD drive, and never touch the laser lens with your fingers. A small, SMALL amount of alcohol on the qtip touching the laser gently is all you need, then go over all the components to help with the opening problem. THe reason I mention the laser is, while you're in there, you might as well make sure it's nice and sparkly to keep your read speeds high Very Happy

As far as strict cleaning goes for your box, the lens cleaners "aren't reccomended for console systems like the xbox, PS2 and GameCube systems" that's what my cleaner disc says. And I've used it on a couple xboxes, to no avail. Always get the dirty disc error within the next couple hours (not the 10 it suggest you clean it... ridiculous). So on average, I pop my case open every 20 or 30 hours and clean that sucker out. It takes about 10 minutes tops with the right tools, a few q-tips and a small amount of alcohol. My Samsung could never be happier Very Happy.

if you havent solved your problem yet, then i have a few tips for you

number one-DONT USE RUBBING ALCOHOL. rubbing alcohol eats off the very small small layer of plastic off of you laser lense therefore the actuall laser lense is more prone to scratches.

number two-i have that exact same problem, the normal reason for the tray not oppening is thos magnets that hold the disk so it can spin grow stronger over time some how, what i did was super glue a pice of plastic on to the magnet and that solved that problem. the plastic peice should be somthing like the thickness of the package that an xbox controller comes in.

number three- if you want to get down and dirty with your drive. grease the gears that slide the DVD tray open just a little dab about an inch apart till you get the whole track.

hope that helps if havent already done it.

dont ever open it or clean it unless its giving you problems. if it wont read disks some times, then use a DVD cleaner CD that has those little brushes on the bottom. If the DVD rom wont read anything at all then thats when you should open it and check it out, clean it, get all the dust out, and dont accidentlly bump the laser bcuz it can disalign it and never work again. when you clean it make sure to use a light cloth such as toilet paper that is damp with some kind of CD cleaner prefebly and just drag it over the lense. after all, if it doesnt read anything what do u have to lose? just do it

nope, it doesn't boost the perfomance of the DVD rom, it just makes it last longer. And you shouldnt clean it but like mabee 2 times a moth at the most if it is working properly. that just wears the lense down more quickly.
