Now I've asked this before and was told it was impossible, but I've been thinking bout it. Is it at all possible for me to connect my xbox to my pc through my DSL modem, now hear me out, I am running zoomtown through a Westell 6110 Modem, I have it connected to my pc through its usb connection, it has an open slot for a Ethernet connection as well. While browsing my network places, i clicked on view network connections, the modem connection came up as a network connection, so is it theoretically possible to connect xbox to pc through this and if yes how would i go about doing it, a buddy of mine claims he did this, but members of this site have told me its not possible.

I honestly don't think you can but if you find a way then please post as it would be making your modem sort of a router...later. _________________ Xbox V1.6

using a dsl box no ... using a router yes or u can get an cross over cable aka patch cable and plug it directly to ur pc ... which is the nic card or somtin...
ther is 2 difrent cables 1 is regular ethernt cat5 and other patch cable... HUGE difrnse .. _________________ Xbox 360 Premium edition

Hey gus, a patch cable is a straight-through RJ-45 Cat5. And a crossover (Xover) cable is NOT a patch cable.

Yes this is possible. You have to take the connectors off both ends and switch two wires inside the connectors (hence crossover). I'm sure you could find a tutorial if you googled it. I have never tried it myself, I just bought a Xover cable from a local computer store for $6.00.
About your other concern, when you're dealing with routers always use patch cables. You probably already are, in which case I don't know why your pc is locking up.
