I have the newest version of evox installed with 40gb hard drive, my question is will it read a drive larger than 137gb? if not can i patch my xbox to read larger than 137gb with a softmod (no modchip).
If your HD is larger then 137gb and your bios does not have LBA48 support you will only be able to use max 137gb.
You will have to patch your bios to add with LBA48 support if it doesn't have it yet. You can use XBtool or EVtool to patch the latest bioses.
Do i have what i need with newest evox? or will i have to patch my xbox bios? i really dont want to mess with the original bios if i dont have to.

The LBA48 bios is for chipped boxes. A softmodded box will not support it. To use the full capasity of the larger hdd's, you just have to format the f: and g: partitions.
In settings found in the system menu of EvoX, select to use the f: and g: partitions. You will need AID to format the partitions.
Good Luck

look a 40gb hd only needs F i never used that short amount but when u get higher then 137 then u need to just SIMPLY formate a G for les then 1 sec...
if u get a 200gb hd and done makin it usin xboxhdm1.9 then from there u fully softmoed and just choose the empty folders F n G and re formate them ... and presto. _________________ Xbox 360 Premium edition

You could just use XBPartitioner and format your F: so that it has all of the hdd space on it... The reason that your 40gig only says 30 on the F: is because the rest of the space is divided up between the C:, E:, X:, Y:, and Z: partitions. XBPartitioner is on the AID disk. Download AID and get to it... _________________ http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/xbox-tutorials-211.html

Here is an old post of mine, its just a small tutorial that I wrote a while ago on how to use XBPatitioner.
You have to use a little tool called Xbpartitioner, It sets the size of your hdd partitions. I use it all the time when I softmod and works great, download it from the usual places, or get it off of the AID disk. When you have it on your box run the program and at the screen press start, then you will see 2 windows ( one on top of the other ) the top window shows your C: E: X: Y: Z:, the bottom window shows your F:/G: drive. Move the highlighted portion to the bottom screen and press the "A" button untill it shows the top partition in the bottom window somewhere around your hdd max space, then press start to write table and format partition. A screen will pop up asking if you are sure you want to continue, just press the "Y" button to continue and it will Write and Format the partition. Make sure if you have anything loaded on the F: partition that you back it up to your pc first because it will wipe the entire F: clean. Now you will experience the hdd's full capacity. _________________ http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/xbox-tutorials-211.html

But then you would have 2 seperate partitions to deal with. In my experience, and because I do a lot of mods, this seems to be more of a nusuance. It is much easier to back up your games as well. You don't have to keep specifying which partition you want it to go in (that is if you are using dvd2xbox). My personal preference is to see all of my space on one partition vice splitting it up. _________________ http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/xbox-tutorials-211.html

I think you are misunderstanding what I was saying...
You are not conbining or deleting any that are critical to the dash or mod. All you are doing is allocating the space that would be on the F: and G: partitions to strictly be on the F:. You are not combining CEXYZ together. Just allocating space. It doesnt even effect the critical partitions with the dash on them. You don't even have to enable the G: or format it. There are many different ways and approaches to doing something. Just because you havn't done it before doesn't mean it wont work. There are two solutions here and both work, I know because I have used both. I used to use yours early on in my modding but a lot of my customers didn't like the fact that they had their games and files split up on two partitions. I have done over 50 mods this way and I have never had a problem in over a year. To each his own... _________________ http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/xbox-tutorials-211.html
