Hi I have just taken my xbox (aladdin chip - with all the games on the hdd) with me on holidays so I don't have cable internet or even a game to try... I plugged it in and tried to start the modded bios, (it's the type you ORDINARILY hold the power button down and the LED light changes from green - red - orange and when you release the button it powers up and loads the modded bios). HOWEVER now it doesn't wait for you to release the button to load the bios, it just loads the original bios but the LEDs still change colour if you hold it down.
What I should mention is that the xbox is likely to have copped a few knocks... I also noticed the original bios had reset it's date/time when I first plugged it in and tried it... It still seems to have the upgraded hdd accessable in the "memory" with the saved games etc I think I'm assuming that means the chip is still ok (more I hope).
So my question is: Is this just a problem to do with the physical connection between the power button to the chip? Since the xbox boots now without waiting for me to release the power button I assume that's where the problem lies? OR is the chip buggered maybe I should try to reload the bios? I dunno...
Anyways any help to remedy the situation will be most appreciated...
Thanks heaps

If could be a loose connection. Check over everythingand try to reboot. The M$ dash will automatically reset the date and time once it is unplugged, so that is normal.
If your chip has an auto boot option I would give that a look as well. _________________

Is that a solderless install? You may have lost your D0 point, if it is (technically, you may have lost it even if it was a solder install, too, I guess, if you bounced your box around too much).
Also, I'm not too familiar with the Aladdin, but some older mod chips couldn't handle the auto clock set, and you would have to set the time to a valid setting before the mod chip could interrupt the normal function. I assume that once you set the time, and try to reboot you still have problems? The clock on those only stays set for 2-4 hours before it throws an exception flag that it lost power and you need to reset the time. Newer generation chips can ignore that flag and even set the time over internet STP.

Boot your Xbox with an Evo X auto installer. Burn it onto DVD-R and boot your XBox with this in the drawer.
Go then to Flash bios and relash the chip...
If it doesn't boot on the DVD then open the XBox and make sure no wires have come loose or been crushed in one of those knocks you mention...
It sounds like the D0 or BT could have either come loose or been crushed...
If you have any more problems contact me on MSN Messenger: Aladdin@360chip.com
I can send you a small boot CD ISO.
DOesn't matter if you have a copy or original, you paid good money so it should work ;-}
