Admin's, please STICKY this topic. If it saves someone as much time as I wasted, it will be worth it.
If you are having problems getting your X3 CE mod chip to power on with a v1.6a or v1.6b box (getting box to power on/off, on/off, and finally FRAG or just plain no video) after installing it, but disabled the box still works, etc. Read here

14 total successful solder-mod xbox's (v1.0 to v1.6b; favorite is v1.4 Sept 2003; very clean motherboard and usually has Samsung DVD), including two 128MB upgrades and 2 X3 LCD/CP's.

Just a little more update on this. The problem seems to be using the hidef video cable with a virgin 3.0.1 cromwell bios on an X3 and a v1.6 xbox. I need to see if I could get a virgin X3 CE to boot on Bank 7-8, which is suppose to have 3.0.3 on it and that is suppose to work. I need to flash 3.0.3 to the backup PROM before I need it too. Grin.
