HI. out of all the forums for x-box, I've desided to join this one. Most everthing I've read is really inteligent, nice job!
Now that I have butterd you up, I have installed a smartxx v.2 chip in a xbox v1.0. I am extremly new, have done alot of searching and reading (3-days) and am only slightly confused I do'nt exspect to have the answers handed to me, after all thats how we learn, I have found alot of interesting and informative stuff here, now I just need to put it all together.
Please tell me if I have this right
I don't need a FTP program because my SmartXX chip has one built in.
I have found, and can use Xbins now, (what an experience)
I need to install a new dashboard, I'm choseing UleashX
I don't need to flash a new bios because Smartxx already has what I need ?
Do I have this right so far?

Welcome to Xbox-hq.
If the chip has a built in ftp then you don't need a program as long as you can get into the one on the chip. If you can't get in through the built in ftp then you can get Flashfxp for your ftp needs.
That I know of, chips only come with a cromwell bios. You need to flash the chip with a hacked bios ie. evox M8 or xecuter 4983.
You can download AID from HERE, which hass all the apps and dashboards you need. Good luck with your mod. _________________

I don't have a dvd drive burner in my computer So I can't burn a dvd to install AID, can I ftp it?

OK, I've become a VIP Member, probably the best 10.00 I've spent in a while. I started to download AID. I got the manual ok but am to stupid to figure out how to download the actual AID program. I entered the user and password, it brought me to a page with 2 files, how the hell do I download these files _________________ SmartXX v2.0 Chip & xbox V1.0

Just click on the file, or right click and choose from the list. You will need to unrar the file. Unrar the one with the lowest number or the one with no number. Once it opens you can access AID. Honestly, I don't know if you can FTP AID to the xbox. Let me look around to see if I find a post about that and I will let you know what I find. _________________

Errr...sort of. You NEED an FTP program on your PC or FTP client (recommend FlashFTP or SmartFTP, though you CAN technically use the built in windows ftp non-GUI program). You DON'T need a program on your XBox, as it is served by the SmartXX chip...and if that doesn't work, and you have a DASH installed, it typically has FTP services for you (you just need to config them). Either way, make certain you setup your FTP config correctly (IP address, and net mask). There are FAQ's and guides here about all of that.

Hum...not certain, but even if that Smartxx does have a valid Bios, I would try to make certain it was updated to the latest Evo-X M8 available (do you have a version 1.6 board, do you want >137GB drive supporte, etc.). I'm not a Smartxx chip expert, so you'll have to ask someone else, but you should be able to get the latest BIOS for that chip and figure out which one to use from the AID 2.11 Final disk (good break down of the BIOS in the help pdf file). Optimally, you should be able to flash the BIOS via HTTP: access, but I'm not for sure about that (I know Xecutor chips allow that).
Beyond that, having AID on a disk is nice, but not required. Most of my mods I do now consist of using the soft mod on the original box (pre-mod) to get the eeprom, just incase, and to unlock the original drive. Then, I crack the case, install the mod-chip and a virgin new drive and use the built in HDD prep/formatting of the Xecutor 3CE chip to prep. From there, I use the built in FTP to move the dash of choice over to C: and the original MSDASH files/directories. Finally, move all the APPS over...

I figured out how to download each file. Now which file or files do I need, I know you said the one with the lowest or no number, but there is 30 files, I downloaded the id211f.rar is that the right one? _________________ SmartXX v2.0 Chip & xbox V1.0

Yes. Winrar should be able to figure out that that is a multifile rar and slurp the rest of the files in and unrar them all if you just open the first one.
