Hi,
I have been given an xbox to softmod - it has got a chip in this time as there is a little control panel hanging out of the front.
Thing is I cant get it to boot up - it appears to start then stop,start then stop then I get a flashing green & red LED.
It doesn't boot to any screen at all.
The control panel is laid out as follows - Left to right. - Bank 1 - 2 / Flash Protect off - on / Chip enable off - on
I dont know what chip it is - might have to open it up. Unless someone here knows ???
Any ideas how to get it running - I do not have a programmer to re flash.

What's happening is, the xbox cannot load the bios because of a bad flash or some improper install. Try to disable the chip and boot off of the retail bios. Also look if the chip has a recovery mode. _________________ Xenium Ice 2.3.1 OS

Sounds like eeprom damage, I hope for your sakes it`s not though.
You may as well open it up and have a little look inside as there is little you can do if the xbox does nothing with the chip on or off.

Quick update -
I am afraid I am getting the white flag out and admitting defeat !
The xbox would not boot up in any mode !
I have given the xbox back to my mate asking him to get the chip out and to see if it will boot up - If so I will have a crack at softmodding it !
I think there is something not quite right with it though.....
I will post again if I get it back to play with !

Ok, if it was chipped/modded there is a chance the hdd is unlocked and wont boot if chip removed. Or, hdd is locked with updated dash/soft and will not boot without working chip.Was the hdd changed as well? Was a dash/soft loaded to the fact hdd? I have had bad flash that caused this issue, so eeprom may still be ok. You need to know what chip/bios was used, what else was done... ect. Did your "mate" chip this? Was xbox given to you/him not working with unknowns? Did you travel to NJ, USA and take one of mine? I am missing one!!!

The prob is I have no info on what chip it is or what BIOS were used - The xbox was given to me to softmod with no info at all, my mate thought it would boot and play original games but not backups.
He is going to take the xbox away.........I haven't got time to mess about with an unknown entity.
I have no way of reflashing the chip anyway !!
I have no experience with chips whatsoever.
Thought it would be a straight forward softmod !!!
