I am planning on upgrading my hd from a retail to 80 or 100gb. I have a softmoded vr 1.6 with evox installed. I have access to my roommates laptop with only about 2gb of space left on the hd for me to work with. I have a pc with a bum hd however I have been able to run xboxhdm from an iso cd and it works. I have another xbox 1.6 with no harddrive cause I ruined it during a previous softmod. My current xbox hd is almost full I only have about 800mb left on it. I do not have enough space to copy it to the laptop. Would it be possible take the 80-100gb hd, make it into a xbox hd using xboxhdm, Take my current xboxhd unlock it and put it in my old xbox and then ftp all the information from the old xbox with my current drive to my current xbox with the new hd?
It sounds crazy and confusing but I just basically wanna know if I can unlock my current softmodded hd and use it in another xbox without locking it? Or will the xbox not operate cause the harddrive is unlocked? Figure I'd check this time before having two non working xboxs

Which means you would have to back-up the eeprom of each box to your pc. Each hdd needs to be locked to the eeprom of the box it would go into. Yes it can be done with xboxhdm if you feel confident enough. I would go over all the steps and make sure the whole process is understood before jumping into it. _________________ Xenium Ice 2.3.1 OS

I know all about hdm. I just wish I knew all about it 2 months ago. Thanks for the info. I think its just best if I find someone to back up my current hd and then just ftp it onto the new one after I create it. That way theres less possible outcome of failure.
