I got the chip installed but Im not real sure where I should screw down the black wire to the LED.I tried it on the motherboard with one of the torx screws but when i turned on the console, the LED's turned red and eject button was orange. If i take the chip off it goes back to normal. The istallation manuel does not show you where to screw down led.Am i doing this all wrong? The site where i got the chip isnt much help so i thought I'd ask some true gamers.
thanx for any help

Screw down the LED? What LED? There is only 1 LED on the xenium and that's soldered to the board. LED - Light Emitting Diode, are you sure that's what you mean.

Yes there is a bundel of wires tht you run from the chip to the extra led.The one that you can mount outside the console. Both the led on the chip and the one ran outside of the console are solid red and the eject orange. This chip is the xenium ice chip.Do the others not have the extra led??Before i installed extra led the chip lit up red and the xenium menu never showed up just a black screen.do you have to have the extra led installed??The wires to the extra led have a black wire that looks like a ground or something and has to be screwed down.Im not real sure where the best place to put it is.I tried that emery cloth trick and got a good connection for the chip though thanx 4 the tip.I got the rite do connection from the installation manuel but im still wondering if i dont got a good enough conection or something because of the weird led's.
Thanx

No, I have the original xenium without the extra LED, it's not required if you don't want it on. Just check that all of your pins are touching the board, if you have a multimeter you can test for conitinuity if not you'll just have to use your eyes. Make sure the thin gold wire is in the right hole and that the oderless kit is screwed down tighty. Try it without the extra LED and see if that makes a difference. I not try flicking the recovery switch on the chip and see if anything comes up.
