I recently put my computer in my room, and set up a wireless connection for it. Now that my LAN port is free, I was wondering if it would be possible to run cat-5 between the port and xbox. I configured my router, and set-up a small network. Can my xbox be somehow added to this network? I'd try, but i'm too lazy for failure
p.s. i know they sell wireless adapters for the actuall xbox, but I want it through cat-5

Actually, your wireless router should have a port available for a Cat-5 cable. Most wireless routers have one available I believe. Is that what you were already talking about?
You could connect that directly to your xbox for FTP purposes and have no issues whatsoever. _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter

Thanks for the one and only reply. unfortunatly, my parental units arn't thrilled withe hundreds of feet of cat-5, hence the wireless. Just to clear up, I want to hook my XBL up via cat-5 into my now free LAN port on my mobo. I hear crossover cat-5 will do the trick, but does anyone know if there is some sort of network connection I must do, beside addigning the LAN port a seperate IP? It's win xp btw.

If I understand you right your pc is connected to a wireless network and you want to connect your xbox to it to get online? If that's so you're quite right you will need a cross-over cat5 cable. All you then need to to is go into network conection, right click on your wireless connection if that is providing your internet access, click properties, go to te advanced tab and click share internet connection, click OK and you should be done. One last thing you would need to do is assign your PC a static ip on the network conection conecting to the xbox and tell the xbox to get its ip from DHCP. This should work fine. _________________ V1.4 Xbox
