Hey guys I need some input here. I just installed 2-12" Audiobahn SE subs in my car with a 1800W amp. The question is this, I currently have a sealed sub box. Some people say I should go ported because of the trunk space. I have a 99 Concorde which has a HUGEMONGUS trunk. I'm just looking for some feedback. Thanks.

As long as it is a individually sealed box, and don''t want anything special. I personally would do the Ported, you get so much more bang for the buck off that box. If yo u have them individually sealed, this will prevent the subs from beating off one another due to pressures.
Ported box/slotted are awesome. But if you could afford it, get a band pass box, it will blow of those away. Its a sealed/ported box.
I was running (needed the trunk space for traveling) 1 12" Mtx thunder 9500 (1 sub liike the JLW7, in the box it weighs over 100 lbs. The sub alone weighs over 50 lbs.
THen I am running a JBL 2400W bridged connection pulling from 2 audiobahn 1 farad capacitors w/ Digital LED Voltage Read out.
It was a sweet setup, i am getting new car next week... a dodge pickup, so I won't have the room anymore. _________________ XBOX v1.6

Damn, Shortacid were you playing music for the whole neighborhood..
I'm going to hook up my caps and DVD player today. I just installed a Pioneer AVH p6400 in the car. I thought it played DVD's but its the only Pioneer with motorized flip up screen that does not play dvd's . I can't complain though, I only paid $300 for the radio. So another $80 for the dvd player still keeps me ahead money wise. _________________

Sorry man but I do not agree with the bandpass idea one bit....it just makes the stuff sound louder but not feel louder....pretty much its bullsh*t.....go individual ported and your dbs will be higher than bandpass.....if you go to any comps you dont see anyone with a bandpass box that is best buy stuff not quality....not to knock your ideas SA....but anyways what type of box are you running SA?....im running an adire audio brahma 15" in a 3.5 cubic feet ported box with a cadence a7+hc amp along with a stinger 1 farad capacitor....my sub kills the w7 and has one of the highest linear xmax in the industry.....my sub is something like 55lbs too....gotta love subs.....too bad you cant beef up the truck....what amp are you using to power those audiobahns enigma? rember though that by going ported you are moving more towards the spl end and that will begin to sacrafice sound quality depending on the quality of the subs....because they are audiobahns you should notice a difference in sound quality (sharp tight bass) when going from sealed to ported....good luck though with your decission. _________________ Xbox V1.6

Its not a shit setup if you do it according to one of the several BOSE designs. It makes it sound so much better. Its just a matter of making it yourself. Sure if you buy a pre fab....you shouldn't be buying one, but if you make a proper bandpass, you get a lot from a little.
I made one for my 2 infiniti kappa perfects (and some spare wood to make a regular port.) I prefered the Bandpass all the way, but the 2400 w amp blew the subs....it was sooo much fun actually. I only payed 250 for the pair 4 years ago. (about.)
I forget all the different bandpass designs pose put out, but there are calculators out there and deisgn plans, its just finding them. I think i went with either the 5th or 7th rev. _________________ XBOX v1.6

Enigma, I thinks it also depends on the subs specs, I run a 15" mtx8000 and a mtx 2300 amp in a ported box. I've had 2 12" in a sealed box with th same amp, and it left more to be desired. My 15 will knock the rear-view mirrior off if I tell it to. BTW pick up the young Jeezy cd for the first bass test! I always wanted any pioneer avh... did you need to buy the "brain" unit too? _________________

No, that was the price for the whole unit. I bought it a a pawn shop, you gotta love those places. I'm currently pushing a Legacy LA2060 Amp with a Cap. I'm looking to change the amp though. A friend of mine has a MTX, we hooked it up to my subs and DAMN!!! My wife came out of the house thinking my car exploded. Now THAT'S bass.
I think I will go ported. The same guy that has the MTX offered to make me the box, all I have to do is buy the material and he'll build it for free. _________________

I had a ported, individually sealed, box with 12" JLs and Orion Xtreme Amp. Sounded good, but I recently went to a sealed box and shattered my rear window in my Durango!
I think if you have a lot of air space, totally sealed is the way to go! _________________ LED Rings $6 (doesnt include LEDs) LED ring pic

typically sealed box enclosures are smaller than a ported box _________________ Xbox V1.6
