Hey ,

I was just wondering if and HOW it would be possible to wire my 7.5 volt hub from my xbox power supply. aka I'm putting in my next box that I'm now working on. Also the hub has one of those circle power connectors .... how do you wire the wires to that? lol. thanks in advance!

this is a picture of a voltage regulator. i would use this, but you can try using the 7v trick. you actually use the twelve volt line for power, and you use the five volt line for ground. this isnt a very stable method. alas, i used the 7v trick on mine. you want to use the white wire (wire with the white strip) for positive, and the all black for ground.

ummm... im not the software expert, but with the x3 the latest bios version either gives you an option or automatically configures the box to work without the dvd drive. if you are using a x2.6 i believe the latest bios version again gives you the option to boot without a dvd drive present. if you have anymore questions please feel free to ask.

I know its been awhile, but I'm making some progress on the slimbox w/hub ... I just have a question. Does anyone know how many amps the xbox mobo/hdd combo pull outta the ps? The ps is 2.5A, and the hub takes 1.0A and I'm looking into seeing how many fans i can put in itso that I can keep it as cool as the other side of the pillow. I want to put in 4-6 additional fans (40x40x10), 2/3 on each side for internal, intake and exhaust, fans. (From left to right of course). Here are some pics of my progress ... I also just finished preliminary sanding, bought my paint and 2000grit sandpaper today. I'm doing one of those mirror finishes (thanks for the link halouser! you know which one). I'm waiting for my green stuff to come in the mail so i can fix a few imperfections then the mirror painting begins!

i cant remember exactly how many amps the 12v rail, are you positive its 2.5 amp output? i think ive heard more, but i dunno. i dont think you shouldnt have any problems anyways.. at .07 amps x 6 fans you are still only using .42 amps, which isnt very much at all. you have to think about how many cathodes some people plug into that bad boy. if you just use the 12v for your peripherials, and then you use leds so you will be using the 5v instead i think everything should be honky doree. i hope i was at least some help.

Yeah thats tru. Well i was just going off what is written on the power supply on the inside for the 2.5 amps. OO well I'll buy my fans today and we'll see if everything runs fine when i wire it together lol. 3x40mm fan intake on left ... 3x 40mm fan outtake on right, and 60mm outtake fan on the back. I should be cool enough. oo yeah, I also upgraded my thermal gel to arctic silver5 for cpu and gpu. I'm just worried about the hub's heat that's all

its lookin great man. umm, i was a little apprehensive about the hub in my xbox at first too, but after being in and around xbox and pc components ive kinda come to the conclusion that its not really going to bother anything unless its very close to a vital part. maybe if you had the hub on top of the cpu or gpu without a heatsink at all you might have a problem, but i think you are fine with the placement of yours.
