New to the board, hi to all!...
On to the question...
I have recently softmoded my xbox, and it was cool and all until I notcied I couldn't connect to the net to get updates and such so I was told by this guy on a another forum to restore ms and try again... Well I restored my MS... and now I am stuck at a "Xbox Live update" screen... and I cannot move past it... I need help... and fast before my gf kills me for breaking our xbox....lol hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha......

hi deathrail,
Try grabbing a original XBOX LIVE game (new one) and booting it.. Hopefully it will update your M$ Dashbord for you and fix any errors.
Apart from that:
Are you sure you removed the SOFTMOD??
Try booting the Auto Installer Deluxe (AID) in your xbox dvdrom drive..
If it boots then you still have your softmod installed and you can fix this error anyway by replacing the software that is missing or corrupted.
yea I am postive, like when I boot the xbox it goes right to this update screen... and wouldn't I need an xbox live connection??? It was to my understanding I would have had to pay for it... lol

I believe most xbox live compatible games update your dashboard whether you are are xbox live subscriber or not.. Well thats what ive been told. _________________ HQ Network:

Well I have tried putting in a game with live on it (Prince Of Persia Warrior within) and I couldn't get it working, it still comes to a screen saying Xbox live update..
But do you think it would be possible to FTP my other softmoded xbox, copy its MS contents, then take the harddrive out of the broken xbox, switch it to slave, hook it up in to my computer as my secondary device and copy the MS files I have gotten from my working xbox, on to this hard drive????? When I had one opened for the first time I was amazed because the hardrives are just computer hard drives.... and that was new to me.. lol
but do you thinkI could that??

Sounds similar... update loop... thats what happens is I can only view that.... if I push x or any other button it trys to connect again... I will look for this hot swap tutorial.. I have seen its on pirrups signature... thanx guys Iwill update with my out come... thnx again!

Yup.. Sure can..
If you dont have any luck with your own BACKUP try to find 'pirrup' on xboxhq and in his signature he has a link to the M$ C DRIVE BACKUP..
