Hi all. I have a query on bios flashing prior to using AID v2.11. I have just bought an already modded xbox (they are available retail here in Malaysia) which appears to have the MS dashboard (not sure to be honest) and I am not sure of what version it is - although I do know it was made week 25 of this year in China.
Whilst I am comfortable with the concept of flashing bios having done it before on my pc what I am not sure about is firstly how I determine what bios I have (presumably without using the AID program as none of the options in the dash seem to show it) and secondly what bios I should flash it to! Very noobish I know but I only just bought it on Saturday (a lot on the strength of the ability to use great software such as AID). Could someone point me in the right direction on this? Thanks in advance.

your trying to flash the bios? First thing, your going to want to make sure it has a chip, and if so, what kind? Also, how much is US dollars did it cost you? (not nessecery, im just curious) _________________ XCM Halo 2 blue case

It definitely has a modded chip (based on the "type" of games it can play). Suffice to say Malaysia is rampant with piracy and leave it at that.
Like I said the entire unit can be bought retail over the counter with the modded chip already installed - I have no idea what chip it has however. Pointers as to how I can find out would be welcome as well as the bios flashing info in relation to it seemingly being a requirement prior to loading AID.
Edit: Price was equivalent to USD200 for system, 2 controllers, 10 games and remote control.

hmm, you say 'based on the types of games it plays'
do you mean they are burnt to discs/dvd's? if that is the case, the bios is already flashed, thus should run AID 2.11
the only thing i can think of is that you need to make sure you're burning the iso to the cd/dvd right...
to find out what chip you have you can open the case, and remove the hdd and dvd drive... just take pics of what you find under the dvd drive area and post them on here and im sure i, or another member here can identify it for you _________________ XCM Halo 2 blue case

Yes plays games burnt to dvds straight off the bat - I was asking because in the 2.0 manual chapter 4 it mentions about flashing the bios on your modchip and I assumed I fell into this category.
Is it then fair to assume this section only applies to those who who have installed a mod chip but have not yet flashed it to a relevant bios i.e one that allows bootable "burnt" dvds or copied dvds of the original game?
