Ok, first a little education for me please.
Is the iso format native to the dvd player?
Thus making it readable to a non-windows O.S.?

auto_installer is an iso file. If I simply burn it to disc as a data file, doesn't that burn it so as to be windows format dependent? If I select iso, aren't I iso'ing an iso file?

Every time in tha past that I have made an iso file, it has taken multiple files and combined them into one file and called it iso. But when i would burn the iso, it would use the mds and 'split' the iso back into its file parts. I never had difficulty burning an iso file until auto_installer.

If I choose 'burn image' (nero), the burning will begin and end, the disc will be finalized and thus contain 4G on the dvd. Nero will say the disc is full. Windows will say it's empty. C-tools, which reads iso files, won't read the disc. That may be Windows dependent. Essentially the same will occur for Alcohol 120 and dvd decrypter.

I'm trying now to make an mds for the iso file but ???

There are more problems than this but enough for now.
I'll r&r about the bios, backup and hdd. lol. That's a catch-22. !lol

Thanks

Hey,

If Windows isn't reading the disk thats because it is a Xbox ISO which can only be read in an Xbox so just put the disk in and it should boot.

Thanks

Thanks Xboxxxx,
Yes, I would have thought so too. When I first put the disc in, the xbox displays 'init' and after a short period, it goes to 'No disc'.

So I don't know if it 'truly' is invalid or if it is a function of
Slayer's v+3921 and it's ini file.

I'm going to start by downloading slayer's and see what it has to say about the ini file.

I could try the 'scrap everything and start again' approach but I don't want to get into the middle of that and have something go wrong and end up with no system at all. That's where the importance of knowing that the system can read the disc comes in. I truly feel like I can not modify the system until I modify the system. catch-22.

Let me tell you what I know or what I think I know.
The bios and the ini file are inter-related.
The ini file (on my xbox) and the ftp are inter-related (contains address).
If I flash my bios with the 5035, I should use the 5035 ini file.
I did not see anything in the 5035 ini file to indicate ftp.
I don't know if 198.168.0.103 will continue to work if flash with the 5035 and then I'm stuck with 'how do I get the ini file into the 'C' partion.

If I succeed in that, then I left with hoping that the disc was indeed valid (iso an iso) and can be read and continue to install the rest of the auto_installer. I have to assume that iso is short for a stadard like iso 9000 which s/would indicate all disc are set to read this standard - but I don't know that.

I sent modgod a letter asking him how much it would cost to buy the discs from him. That way I would know that the information on was put on by someone competent in that area.

This has reached a point that ..... disgust.

Everyone here has been helpful and I appreciate that. They don't know how billy bob set the ini file. And I don't know how to interpret it.

Billy bob tells me to use 1M to flash to unit. The x2.6 lite documentation states it has 2 banks of 512. I have to conclude that billy bob was able to get his system to play games from the disk and discontinued the thought procees about how he could set it up, etc. or is intentionally lying to me. Why ask billy bob - who should know how he set the system up - anything? Rhetorical.

I'm far from stupid. I even know the difference between stupid and ignorant. Don't take offense. It's just that I don't know how I would react if I were on readers side. Especially if I knew all you have to do is xyz
to scrap the entire system and start fresh. But my reading of this stuff indicates how certain things are inter-related. Yes fine but you can't do two things at once. Bios needs an O.S. It is impossible to put them both on at the same time.

Thanks for the time.

Let me add that there seems to be little resemblence of the xbox being an xbox. If I turn the x2.6 lite to off, all I get is something akin to 'service required' in multiple languages. Now I would have thought that by turning the switch off, I would have had the customary xbox. Billy bob modified the original hdd as well as the 120G so now I have no chance of recovering the old system unless I purchase a similiar model. Laughing It's immaterial as to which bank on the eeprom I select, I get the same interface aka dashboard.

I start with a short response. Thanks. The iso's were burnt per instructions but in case the response helps anyone, I'll post it.
It's not that I don't want to provide credit for the responser, it's simply a matter of privacy.

"Ok.. How old is your dvd burner..?? Ive heard of some older models not burning the discs correcetly.. Very strange.
Ill just run through the exact steps i would take to burn AID including downloading and extracting the rar files.

Heres how i burn a backup or AIDeluxe.iso:
1. DOwnload AID from the VIP Servers or HTTP Download etc etc
2. Once you have the aid.rar files from .rar-.r09 or whatever downloaded onto your pc you use WINRAR on your to extract the files from inside the RAR file to your PC HDD somewhere you can remember.

3. now you should have a folder extracted somewher on your pc..
Now go and find the file named: Auto-Installer.Deluxe.v2.11.Final.iso
Thats the file we want to burn.. Its in the folder you just extracted to.

4. Open DVDDecrypter and choose 'Mode' then 'ISO' then 'WRITE'
5. Click on the folder in DVDDEcrypter to choose the source image.
you wnt to selec Auto-Installer.Deluxe.v2.11.Final.iso as the source image.
6. Put in a blank DVD-R and choose the slowest burning speed
7. Click the burn ICON and thats it..

Another tip:
Try different brands of media.. Just because one brands works with your xbox doesnt mean it will work in another xbox unless it has the exact same DVDROM DRIVE.. "

I'm back.
My burner is an Nec 8500 AG - 1 year. My other is a TDK 880N - 1.5.
I check 99% of every old disc for dust/dirt and 85% of every new disc for dust/scratches.
I use Verbatim -R 8X. Ridata 4X is also used. The 'coasters' may actually be good. But the xbox doesn't recognize any of them. So I placed another posting on the general discussions board asking if I should simply ftp the stuff into the xbox. As simple as that sounds, it raises questions. Why? When I look inside 'C', I get evox*.xbe evox*.ini. The autoinstaller has default.xbe & config.xml. Well, do I simply ftp them or rename them (evox* ) and then ftp? Only mentioned here in case you care to look.
Having looked at some other files, my best guess is simply ftp them.
But I didn't create the pgm. I don't know. (not sarcastic, just fact)

I've made a lot of iso's. But the iso files did not start out as iso's.
Thus I was wondering if I was putting on a double iso style format layer.

I'm in xbox jail. Do not pass go, do not collect $200.00.

This whole fiasco started because my son would not pick up his games.
He has about 40 of them. Of the time I spent on this, I could have picked up his games for at least 5 years!!!!!! At 5 minutes a day, that's only 2.5 hours per month It's kinda funny but I'm not laughing.

Cheers everyone.

still no luck?? i see no flaw in any of your procedures (well until the trying to ftp it part Razz) but anyways, the Xbox is already modded, yes? what are you tring to install? you can extract all the files out of the ISO like you already mentioned and ftp the single apps/emu's across and setup things manually. we'll be able to walk you through all that if you need it.
