I thought since I've seen quite a bit about flashing/non-flashing eject buttons I would send this out as an assist. It also would allow me to just give a link rather than type a lot.

Note: If your XBox is softmodded (and the described symptoms apply) then you got problems which only a modchip can fix! Exceptions might be found by using this tutorial..

pirrups hotswap tutorial at:

Heres a direct link to Tutorials Error Lights..

Xbox Error Light Meanings:
http://xbox-hq.com/html/xbox-tutorials-163.html

Eject button warning colors:
Orange-green means no AV pack.
Solid red, overheated.
Flashing red, corrupt eeprom.
Flashing green, bad bios load.
Flashing red-orange, bad video output
Flashing red-green, system faliure (can be alot of things)

So, you somehow rendered the XBox useless?

Scenario 1
Symptoms:
Your XBox turns on and hangs.
It hangs after the flubber-animation (at the big X) or it hangs when a Service Error is displayed.

Solution:
This is a (custom) dashboard related error. The configuration (settings in the XML-file) is invalid or files are missing or the executable (XBE-file) is missing. To fix it:
- Get a boot-disc (the easiest boot-disc is "Auto Installer Deluxe" or create one yourself).
- Press eject on your XBox and insert the boot-disc.
- Press power on your XBox and the DVD-tray will close and power-off the XBox.
- Press power on your XBox and the XBox will boot from the disc.
- FTP into your XBox and repair your dashboard (either get a working XML-file and/or get all files in place) or if using the auto installer install a boot dash to C drive.

Scenario 2
Symptoms:
Your XBox turns on and video output is scrambled and/or flickering (in short: video output is incorrect).

Solution:
Your XBox is set to a video setting that your TV does NOT support. Try booting AvaLaunch and press (and hold) both thumbsticks (I'm not 100% sure, but I believe this only works with UNLOCKED harddisks. Try it anyways...)
If that doesn't fix your problem then:
- Get a hold of the "EnigmahX Video Switch"-disc (from the "usual" places).
- Press eject on your XBox and insert the EnigmahX-disc.
- Press power on your XBox and the DVD-tray will close and power-off the XBox.
- Press power on your XBox and the XBox will boot from the disc.
- When it's loaded (just wait a while) press "A" for PAL and press "B" for NTSC.
- Press eject on your XBox and take the EnigmahX-disc out.
- Press power on your XBox and the DVD-tray will close and power-off the XBox.
- Press power on your XBox and the XBox will should boot using a correct video output.

Scenario 3
Symptoms:
Your XBox turns on there's no video output, no sound and a flashing red power LED.

Solution:
Don't fear, this IS fixable (with the right tools).
You will require a modchip with a programmer (or some way of externally programming the modchip).
There two cases really, you have a backup of your EEPROM or you don't.

Case 1 - You DO have a backup:
- First of all, congrats for being smart enough in having backups.
- Second, what you need is a patched Cromwell BIOS with a programm called "AddEeprom".
- Get your EEPROM backup and use AddEeprom to insert it into the cromwell binary.
- Flash this BIOS to your modchip and boot it up. The DVD-tray will eject and your EEPROM is restored!
- If it didn't work the first time: boot it again or make sure you did everything correctly.

Case 2 - You do NOT have a backup:
- First of all, shame on you for not having backups.
* Note: if you (still) have the original harddisk that was NEVER unlocked: The HD is pretty much useless now.
* Note: In case you have a locked harddisk (using ConfigMagic) the password is "TEAMASSEMBLY".
- What you need is a patched Cromwell BIOS with a programm called "AddEeprom".
- Get a EEPROM backup and use AddEeprom to insert it into the cromwell binary.
* Note: Make sure that the EEPROM uses the right video settings (PAL or NTSC).
* Note: There is a EEPROM editing tool for the PC (called LiveInfo) which allows you to edit EEPROM settings.
- Flash this BIOS to your modchip and boot it up. The DVD-tray will eject and your EEPROM is restored!
- If it didn't work the first time: boot it again or make sure you did everything correctly.

Scenario 4
Symptoms:
Your XBox powers on and off three times and FRAGs (flashing-red-and-green) with no video and no sound.

Solution:
Something is preventing your BIOS from loading.
Possibilities are that the modchip is loose or any other modchip related problem.
Try reprogramming the modchip or check all connections of the modchip. When checking the (wire) connections of the modchip do note that sometimes when the XBox is being re-assembled some component might push a wire onto another metal component which causes a permanent short (or something else, like solder-flakes?, causes shorts).
