My xbox is dead and slayer will not install.
Hi - I am a new member and am very confused! To cut a long story short - for a while my xbox has been freezing whilst playing games and DVD's - sometimes for a few seconds, sometimes for ages. It is fairly old (2002) and has a Thompson DVD. Recently I switched it on and was greeted by the dreaded "your xbox reqires service" screen (error 13). Now I get the same screen but with error 16! I have burned slayer 2.6 to a new CD-RW ( I am sure I have done it correctly) but the xbox will not read it. I have made no modifications to the machine - it is completely standard. Is my xbox dead? Please help as I dont realy know what I am doing !!!! Thanks.

If you have not modified your xbox at all, it will not read slayers cd or dvd. In order for your xbox to read homebrew content, you will need a modchip (maybe softmod will work, don't know) and hacked bios.

Slayers < AID

GET AID!!!! (but only after installing your modchip.)

depends where you live (determines wen it will be relesed in your area) and also if you don't play your xbox much then its probably not worth getting it fixed if you definately know your gonna get a 360

It comes down to this - I love my xbox but have played all the games I like to death - the only thing I an gutted about is not completing Halo2 on the hardest setting. Asking around I have found that every single person I know who has an xbox has had problems with it. My machine has never been treated badly but is busted - I am frankly not sure if I should buy the 360 - will it be reliable? Should I wait for the new play station instead?

The Thompson drive was never really a good drive. To go with a Samsung or a Phillips it would cost about half the value of the xbox....your call.
