OK here goes. I have a V1.0 . I attempted to install an X3CE in my xbox. I had bought the solderless adapter, but chose to hard solder it in anyways, since I had some experience with a soldering iron. Seemed simple enough. So, here's what I have, I have 2 blue lights and 1 red light on chip itself. With a short press of the power button, the power flashes on, then off, on then off, on and then power light flashes red and green. The dip switches are all set on off, and the HD light is blue, but X logo is red. The TV isn't getting a signal at all. I am using factory a/v cables. I just am not getting a picture or anything. If I hold the power button in for a few seconds, then evox loads up normally, as I had a soft mod on the hard drive. Any ideas as to what the hecks wrong??
Well, I think I fried my xbox last night. The circuit on the main board where the d0 is supposed to be soldered in, decided to come apart. After an attempted and unsuccessful repair, It seems like I should go and buy a new xbox. Dang thing does absolutely nothing at power up now. I cant even load up the soft mod anymore. Is it fried or possibly something else (wishful thinking).

Probaly fried your Xbox. If you can get it working load up AID 2 and Format/Prepare the HDD and reinstall M$ Dashboard etc...
THe individual circuit where the d0 is supposed to be soldered has broke and I don't know if it can be fixed. The dang thing still does exactly the same as i first posted, but Evox will not load, after a 2 second press of the power button.

You could buy a new motherboard. Dunno the cost might be worth getting new Xbox
Thanks for the help. I'm probably gonna go and buy a new one today and try it all again. Hopefully I wont get a v1.0 again with the dang holes filled with solder. Anyone know of an easy way to get the d0 right? Would it be just as easy to use the adapter? Installing seemed easy except for that pesky d0. Any ideas?

Yeah I would use solderless, I did and it makes it so much easier to install although I had to put some foam in between the modchip and DVD drive as it would come loose and frag.
Headed to buy a new xbox now. Gonna try solderless this time. Reckon there's any chance on frying the mod chip? And if I'm using the adapter do I still need to install the HD and Lan wires to the board?

No you don't need to install LAN and HDD activity LEDs, I would but thats my choice.
As for frying the chip, if you follow the tutorials carfeully you should be alright!
Ok new xboxis a v1.6. Installed chip and every thing powered up normally with the exception that is service required screen popped up what should I do now? I'm pretty dang sure everything is soldered properly as I followed instructions very carefully. All the lights are on and power button is flashing red and green. It didn't power on and off several times as my last xbox did.

Actually, I prefer the 1.0 boards to any of their counterparts. The 1.0 has the extra fan which keeps the board nice and cool. Heat kills! You can mod the 1.0's and install 300GB HD without any fear of overheat issues.
Desoldering the 1.0 holes are very easy. I use a 25watt iron and desoldering braid.
You just have to take your time. I only hold the iron on the braid (over the hole) for a seven second count. I then remove for five seconds and blow on the LPC to cool it faster. Then, if the hole is clear I move on to the next, if not I go again with another seven count.
If I cant get the hole clear, I turn the board over and try from the underside. Sometimes I can do a hole on the first try (which actually, most of the time I can) but sometimes it takes three or four cracks at it.
Good luck with your next install. If you need any help, let me know. Sorry I haven't been around much to answer questions, but hopefully I will be around when you go at your next one.

Are you getting an error number on the screen?
Do you still have the stock HD in?
Is the X3 logo on the X3 switch blue or red?
Did you flash the chip yet? If so, what bios did you flash to the chip?
My advice is to ALWAYS keep the stock HD in the Xbox until you flash the mod chip. This way, at least you wont get any Xbox error screens if all is well with the chip.
Make sure the flash protect switch is "OFF". This way, it will boot up to the flashbios screen so you can flash your chip if you havent done so yet.

Noerror numbers, just M$ dash, stock HD is in there, X3 logo is red, chip has not been flashed, The chip itself lights up with 2 blue lights and a red light. Is there anyway to test the chip to see if it's good? Or is there something else I should do to make this nightmare go away. I'm almost at the point of bashing, lol. Thanks for trying to help guys, cause I have no idea what to do.
