I'm trying to undo a softmod so that I can go on XBox Live. I used SID 007 v2.0 to do the softmod and currently have an Evox dash. I get a little confused with step 8 of the 007 softmod instructions:
8. If you want to put the MS Dashboard back on your Xbox, you'll need to put MS Dash 5960 on your Xbox. The easiest way to do this (once the box is softmodded) is to use my Auto-Installer Deluxe to delete the files from C Drive and install the latest MS Dash. Note: when this is done you'll have to repeat steps 3 to 7.
So then step 9 says to run patch MS Dash 5960 to restore the MS Dashboard. I can do that now. But do I need to do anything else like delete Mod Backup or restore MS Backup first? Also do I only need to repeat steps 3-7 if I am trying to softmod the XBox again? Or do I need to put the 007 game back in to restore the original dash? Seems like repeating steps 3-7 would do the exact opposite of what I am trying to accomplish unless I do some things differently. Are there any more specific tutorials for undoing a softmod?
I want to make sure I do this right before I try going back on XBox Live because I really don't want to get this XBox banned like my Mod is. Thanks _________________ XBOX v1.6

you dont do that to restore the mod thats just to put the dash back on to restore it to factory you must do this as follow's..... OK ONLY IF u made a MS backup with the Create MS backup option when u installed to take it off you do this..... ok goto Restore MS Backup this will erace all trace of a mod off the c drive if you want it gone fully goto file manager and delete these folders off the e driver ONLY! Apps, Backups ,Games, data, Music, Emulators and then goto save manager and delete all the mods like dvd x and stuff and then shut the xbox off and reboot now ur back to retail xD

Thanks for the reply. I did create the MS Backup when I softmodded. So are you saying that all I need to do is select restore MS Backup and then power off and back on an it will be safe to go on XBox Live? Or will I still need to do something with the 007 disc? Thanks. _________________ XBOX v1.6

yes once you do the restore itl be safe for xbox live cause it restores the e drive to retail but all ur mod backups and stuff stay on the e drive all you have to do to put the mod back on the xbox is boot up the hacked game save from 007 again and chose restore mod backup and u can swicth back and forth. tel me ur results

It worked great. I deleted the mod backup and all of the mod files though. Just wanted to make extra sure I don't get banned playing Halo 2 online because I know it looks for signs of modification in places other games don't.
