Some body please help, I connected my x box HDD to my Pc via the secondary IDE cable. My PC was unable to recognise it so i tried a number of ways of connecting it, ie. powering up the xbox with it connected then swapping it onto my Pc. However the last time i tried my xbox now displays the black and green screen of death with error 7. Is there anyway of repairing the HDD or do i need a totaly new one?

hi totaleffect,
Well, i guess you have corrupted your xbox hard drive by the sounds of things.. You xbox HDD will never work in your pc without alot of extra effort..
I would suggest this:
1. Download Xbox-Hq Auto-Installer v1.1
This auto installer can format/partition and install dashboard and other apps at the click of a button. So download it and burn it.
Thats about it.. Even if you go and buy a larger HD and put it into your xbox this APPLICATION (xbox-hq auto installer) will make it ready to go..

YOur computer wouldnt read your xbox hdd because it was locked. If you unlock the HDD you can fdisk it and use it in your computer. Even if you unlock the HDD you wont be able to read the drive until you fdisk it and rebiuld the partitions. I am currently using my xbox's origional HDD in my second computer.
From the sounds of it, Forahobby is right, I would agree that you should download DJB's xbox-hq autoinstaller, and that will fix things up for you.
Good luck. _________________ XBOX v1.0:

So you definately have to unlock the ORIGINAL XBOX HDD when you want to FDISK? Ive never tried but wanted to clarify..

I can verify that also. I just installed my oem Xbox HDD into my shop computer. You do have unlock to Fdisk. You can install the complete auto installer to do this. Or I think would it would be just as easy to make a new Evox boot disk with the HDD Lock, Unlock feature installed on the menu. _________________ Halo SE Xbox

Yeah, you HAVE to unlock it to fdisk it, I found no other way around it. My computer wouldnt even recognize the HDD before I unlocked it.
The easiest way to unlock it is with an autoinstaller disk. I know slayers latest version had that option in the main menu and I would suppose that DJB's would as well but I can say for sure.
Hope that clears it up _________________ XBOX v1.0:

hey,
The reason why i wanted to ask and make sure is this:
As im sure you all have noticed i have recently upgraded from a 80gb harddisk to a 160gb HDD for my XBOX.
I removed my 80gb which is packed full of my favorite apps and emulators etc and installed my brand new 160gb into my xbox.
Now my problem is this.
I locked my new 160GB HDD with my XBOX and now when i try to put my 80gb HDD back in the xbox it will only show all partitions as:
C: 0
E: 0
F: 0
X: 0
Y: 0
Z: 0
Now why would this be.. Nothing has changed on my xbox but the harddrive.. I have tried unlocking it using all the HDD UNLOCKERS i could find and still no luck.. It just wont be recognised anymore..
Oh well, A 80GB Doorstop it seems unless i can get it to be recognised somehow?
