Alright I use the Avalaunch softmod... and I downloaded configmagic just checking out some stuff and unlocked my HD... well my "genius" friend trips over the power cord b4 I can lock it back and now I get error 05 every time I try to boot my Xbox up.
I've looked for a couple days over many threads and websites and I cannot find a single good answer that would help with my problem. I was hoping someone that sees this thread could shed some light on the situation for me? It would be much appreciated...

OK, if you can boot the xbox still with your original dvd you may be able to recover.
I'll need to know what softmod system you used to hack your xbox before I continue though...

I honestly couldn't tell you which method he used (he being I had a friend mod my box for me). This was quite a while ago though I've learned a lot on modding since but can't get ahold of him right now to figure out what he did. I took it upon myself just a lil while ago to try to download that "Auto-Installer Deluxe" thing, but when I burnt it to the disk the Xbox still wouldn't load it up, and when I put it back in my PC the disk was blank somehow ... (noticed for some reason DvdDecrypter said it burnt it to the CD but nothing was accually burnt...).
So then I kept reading and found Xboxhdm, put the Xbox HD in my PC and followed the instructions... of course since this all happened by accident I have no backup of my eeprom available, so I did option 4 in Xboxhdm (dos) and did hdlock and put in a master password... well now my xbox gets error 06 instead of 05 (xbox cannot unlock HD).
So now I dunno if I'm any closer than I was when I began... I don't have anything important on my HD I can wipe it and remod it if nessicary, just need to know how I would go about preping it (I'm guessing with Xboxhdm as I saw a lot of those options inside of it but I don't wanna try anything else blindly, would rather wait for a response from someone who accually knows).
Thx a ton in advance for whoever may have an answer for me...

I would just basicly like to know at this point if my HD is still recoverable using that hotswap method or if I have to just wipe it and remod it. Its fine with me if I have to remod it I'd just like to know how do I do that with my box in it's current condition? I don't have a backup of the eeprom... heck I don't even care if it gets remodded just as long as I can restore it to a normal xbox in that case (meaning I'll remod it later of course ).
So... can someone give me some kinda help here? I'm sure there is some program out there I've seen (like Xboxhdm) that I just haven't figured out how to totally use yet or maybe one I haven't... any and all help is appreciated...

Sorry this is beyond me, hopefully another one of our softmod admins can help. Basically all I do is write the packages for them to use.

The thread said I need a C drive backup or the latest MS dash... well I don't have a backup so where can I get the latest MS dash at? I've searched the downloads section on this site only to find skins for the dash not the accual dash?

You can grab the MS Dash from the Auto-Installer Deluxe 2 ISO. Once you have the ISO, extract it using C-Xbox Tool (or Qwix etc) and navigate to the Files\Dash directory. You'll see a ms-c.zip and a ms-e.zip, that's the MS Dash.

Alright I got all that done... and I went to try the hotswap method but it keeps sayin my HD is locked now.
When I started I Unlocked it with ConfigMagic and I was getting "Error 05" - HD not locked... ok so I used Xboxhdm with option #4 (dos) to lock the HD... put it back in my xbox and I started getting "Error 06" - can't unlock HD. I tried putting it back through Xboxhdm and unlocking it the same way I locked it but it isn't working... it's stuck in locked mode.
The hotswap won't work unless I can get it unlocked again... how can I do this with no eeprom and when xboxhdm isn't working?
EDIT: Also mods if this thread would fit better in another section/me get more help feel free to move it... I just want a way to save this thing...

if you are doing hotswap you didn't have to unlock it with a prog .
all you needed was the fucked retail disk and a pc , the unlocking is done in the 8 seconds (switching ide cable)

Well no see I use a softmod (Avalaunch)... and I unlocked it with ConfigMagic checking out some stuff and before I could lock it or even make a backup my friend triped over the power cord... then the box was gettin error 05 (unlocked HD).
So then I used Xboxhdm just to lock it and I used the password TEAMASSEMBLY since that was the password configmagic used too, well of course that isn't the eeprom password and the box gets error 06 now (cannot unlock HD). Well now even if I "unlock" the HD in Xboxhdm with that password it "says" it unlocks it but it really doesn't. I scanned the HD usin a program and it says it has a Master Password and a User Password (I'm guessing I'm the one that slapped the User Password on it unless someone can tell me different?).
So I'm just totally lost... I hope there is an answer to this...

why did you even unlock it for the first place?
to browse the disk you don't need to unlock it.
