Hello,
I am new to the moding community. I've been reading these fourms forever... and it has inspired me to start modding. (I feel left out :p) I want to buy the following chip, but I need to know if it comes wih the mod on it, or if I need to program it. If I need to program it, how would I do so?

id say stay away from aladdin chips and get the
duox2 cromwell edition , same price and a lot better chip ,
any chip you get you will have to flash with bios ,

O.K. Thank you. What can I do with the chip? I want to use it to be able to Download games onto XBOX, put Halo 2 maps on it and use the DVD feature... is it possible with the Duox2 chip?
And where would I get the bios... and does the programer come with it?
List anything I would need to burn to the chip.

you can get the bios from this site ,
the easiest way to flash duox2 is to network you xbox with the pc and flash the bios over the network ,
yes u can do all those things with the chip ,
you have to find out what version is your xbox to install the chip right ,
and get the right bios for it _________________ Xbox v1.0/1.1/1.5/1.6a

ive never had a chance to use the SmartXX but from what i hear its a great chip but i know they have few different ones so if u get that make sure it will work with your xbox version ,
all chips are pretty much the same , some have more features then others , duox2 is just a basic chip nothing extra there so even tho i never used it i think the SmartXX is a better chip ,
but if you really want a great chip then get xenium , i think this is the best chip out there , some people might say x3 is better but in my opinion xenium is full featured and user friendly chip x3 takes second place in my book _________________ Xbox v1.0/1.1/1.5/1.6a

So is the chip actually called "X3" ? and how many wires are there to solder on both?
Really, I was gonna go for the cheap route, softmodding, but I heard too many bad things. I'm soon gonna have a fully modded Xbox!
EDIT: For those 2 chips that you mentioned.. Is there a way to go on xbox live by pressing a switch?
And do you know any good prices for canadians, like me! :p

I love my X3. The X3 requires 3 wires to solder, HDD/LAN/D0 and its all fed into one connector. Then you can solder the LPC or get solderless adpater _________________ XBOX v1.6

I am going to get the XX V.2 also, just so I have a really nice Linux OS and some ease options like disk to disk transfer if for some reason my ftp doesn't work. And several other options. _________________ XBOX v1.6
