hey guys,
I was just looking at some cool custom xbox casses and i wanted to buy one, but im using the Xbox halo SE and i was wondering if you could put a new case on that or is it you can only do that to the Originals wich are the black ones. any help would be great!!

A case is a case is a case I would imagine. I don't see any reason why the Halo Case could not be replaced. Anything can be painted or modded for that matter. The only thing that wouldn't look good is running El Wire due to the machine being transparent. But one question, why do you want to change the Halo SE? The whole idea of that machine being sold is the uniqueness of it. That's like paying the extra 1200.00 for the pearl white paint on a cadillac and then painting it brown. There are only 200,000 transparent green Halo SE cases out there, well, I guess there's about to be 199,999.
I have two of them and one still on layaway and wouldn't change them for the world. The only thing I am doing is adding bright green LED's to the controller ports and maybe a new Jewel. Granted if you are just replacing the case and keeping the Halo one you could always go back to it. I have seen a lot of custom cases out there, and the transparent cases always looked the best to me.

HA...the Halo Case is very cool. Jewles aren't that hard to replace, so you can always replace that too. Having LED lit controller ports will definitely be cool. You can also change the fan to have a cathode too. I have even seen extra fans on the side with green cathodes lighting them up. That always looked a little excessive for my taste, but different strokes for different folks!

Yea i think im going to do the controler and then add a new jewel, i saw some pretty cool jewels that had some cool lookin pictures in them. But yea, that would be great if you could hook me up with a tutorial, from what understand you need a soldering iron wich i have so i think im set.

No problem. I will put it together for you ASAP and get it to you. PM me your email address in case I have photos and such attached to the tutorial. The controller port mod is easier than I thought it would be. You will need four LED's for each port. The size of the LED's should be 3mm with a brightness reading of 3000 to 5000 MCD. You will not find them that bright at Radio Shack. The brightest they have is 640MCD. I get mine from www.xboxrepairguide.com. Naturally, you don't have to go that bright, but trust me it looks much better. Especially in a translucent case. Everything else you can definitely find at Radio Shack. You will need some standard wire, four 100OHM resistors,electrical tape, wire cutters of course, flat head screw driver, a hot glue gun, glue stick and a 15Watt soldering iron and solder. Some flux wouldn't hurt either. You can use a stronger soldering iron, but be careful not to toast anything...HA. I will start typing up the tutorial tonight.
