I am having a problem with the open button on the fron of my XBOX.
When I power it on you hear the harddrive startup. but nothing comes up and the drawer doesn't open. I have to press the button several times to get the drawer to open and the screen to com up.
Has anyone seen this before or had this and what can you do to fix it?

i would take off the front pannel and look at the plastic button peice since there are plastic arms and somtimes when u go to take them off or put them back in they get warped. Or check the daughter board and test the buttons on the daughterboad and se if its that. If it is u can probably get another for real cheap. _________________ Xbox v1.0

The best damn one I heard recently, was on Team Executer's forums....A guy stated anytime he went to power on the box he would hear a loud snap and smoke would come from the xbox... It would work fine, but the smoke thing kinda worried him.
Check over the pin connector and pins, the solder joints on the pcb (for bad solder jobs or if they are making contact with the RF shield, cover that up with some Elec. Tape), check the buttons (fragile damn little things).
Finally try it outside of the box, without the Front Panel and buttons. Get down and dirty with that baby.
Note: If you are using a mod chip setup (ie. X3) with a daughter pcboard go between check that as well. _________________ XBOX v1.6

ok here is the thing. I bought my XBOX about 6 or 7 months ago. My dad was helping a freind at his pawn shop and a guy came in with a XBOX to sell needed money. He stated that he had only had it for about 2 months.
So my dads friend that owned the pawn shop sold it to me for $119.
As far as I know it has not been modded of anykind. It comes up to the original XBOX dashboard.

Ok guys. here is the situation on my button issue. I removed the top of my xbox. I don't think it is the board or the switch now. The system comes up but no dash comes up. When I press the open switch for the cd drive it I have to press it several times before the drawer will open once the drawer opens then the dashboard will come up. If i turn off xbox and turn back on no dash comes up till I can gett he cd drive to respond and open. When I press the open button I can hear the cd drive trying to read if there is a cd in it and open but I have to press the open switch several time before it read the cd and open the tray. Once it opens it is fine till I power it off again. I go through this everytime I turn it off and go to turn it back on again. I continiously have to press the open buton before the dash loads and the tray will open.
Any ideas?
