Guys, you can softmod your xbox and still play on xbox live without restoring your ms backup everytime u want to play online and then restoring your mod backup everytime u want to play a burned game. if u already have your xbox live account set up before you softmod your xbox, then coldbooting will work after you softmod it. coldbooting is when you boot the xbox with an original game disc in the xbox, so that the xbox loads the game directly without even going to a bios. if u softmodded your xbox without setting up xbox live, then u will have to click restore ms backup, set up xbox live, and then load an exploit again and click on restore mod backup. i have been coldbooting for the longest time, if xbox live wanted to ban me, they would've done it already.

how can this possibly work, the softmod process replaces the xbox dash so as soon as a game that requires the dash to be updated, say from an autoupdate or when you download content, it will detect that it is not signed code and you will get banned. If it does work, then cool but the method you describe means using a stock hdd, which defeats the point of running the softmod, as the drive is too small to enjoy all the benefits of it. _________________ XBOX v1.4

well, i know my cuz has xbox live, and a softmodded stock HDD and he coldboots and plays. but, he has downloaded content before and since i know that xbox live doesn't scan hard drives (otherwise his coldbooting method wouldn't work) you CAN play xbox live with a larger-than-retail HDD. it should go like this: if you replace your hard drive on your xbox BEFORE you ever go on xbox live ever (even to sign up) then u just load up the stock Microsoft BIOS onto your larger HDD and also load your EEPROM on there. then you sign up with xbox live. then you softmod your xbox and coldboot whenever u want to play xbox live. if the game requires you to update your dash if you want to download content, and you accidentally go through with it, then don't worry, as the softmod BIOS will load up, and that means that you have to restore MS backup from the softmod menu, and download the content or update your dash or whatever, and then just restore mod backup, and then coldboot again to play xbox live. again, i don't know about the larger hdd but i do know that if ur dash needs to be updated or you need to dl content, then that's the only time you should have to restore MS backup. now if someone could tell me how i can burn music to cd-r or cd-rw and get it to play on my xbox as i now have a softmodded xbox as well, i would highly appreciate it.

music on xbox is easy, there is two ways. first you can simply burn a music cd with nero or {insert name here} cd bruner, and then rip the track with microsoft dash.
The second is to use a program called XBOXST (Xbox Sountrack Editor) which utilises ftp, and can read the soundtrack database upload wma files to the hdd and rewrite the database in seconds. All you need is to have the modded dashboard on screen with the ftp server enabled. _________________ XBOX v1.4
