Hey again,

With the new EvolutionX V2.6 bios I assume the E-Boot and F-Boot versions just boot from E or F drive. Does it still need to run a file named xboxdash.xbe?

I have an Xbit mod chip. Is there a bios which actually uses 512 or 1mb? If so are there any worthwhile features in it? What is the best bios currently out?

I have only flashed my Xbit from the USB port on it, but its damaged… If I load a bios from the hd or cd can I load it into a different memory slot on the xbit then the one it booted from? So, if I boot from slot 1 256k, can I adjust the dipswitches to slot 2 256k after its booted and then flash to slot 2?

Sorry to be asking all these dumb questions, buts hard to find clear answers on the net.

Thanks,
Cutha

Yep you're correct. You'll still need xboxdash.xbe on your C Drive I guess(which is the Microsoft Dashboard) to configure your clock and hard drive saves.

There are many different types of bios to choose from. I think there are a couple of 512kb ones floating around. Basically all bioses will do the same, but the Xecuter2 Bios is a popular choice.

I have no idea on flashing procedures as I haven't had the chance to actually do it, so I won't give you any bad tips, hehehe Smile

Hopefully this little bit of info has helped you with something...

You cant really say which BIOS is the best coz there all so different - I own an Xbit chip too and I am using the EvoxM7 BIOS and it works just fine! Smile

My call is, as long as the BIOS works who cares if its the latest one?

Yes, there are BIOS out there that are 512k or 1Mb - again the features and so on all depend on the type.

I suggest trying some of the tutorials on this site or going to www.xbox-scene.com - they have some great advice and also diagrams on the different capabilities of the BIOSs currently in circulation I believe.

What do you mean the USB port is damaged? The connector on your Xbit or the PC...?

The dipswitches are meant for you to load new BIOSs onto so that would be a yes! Smile
