I am just about ready to give up. I have tried everything and i cannot get my xbox to read the backup games that i am making. I have been following everything that i can read to the letter. I have wripped the game off the xbox, converted to an Xbox ISO, burned the ISO and no luch. Evox says: No Disc.
I have used the following ISO creation tools:
xISO
Qwix
Craxtion

I have used Alcohol 120% and Nero 6.303 to burn.

It just doesn't work. Was able to burn the Evox boot disk just fine, and i was able to burn a small game (800MB) onto a DVD-R. Nothing big will burn.

I am trying to burn Ninja Gaiden, i have removed all of the Japaneese movie files as outlined in several different posts.

Any and all help would be appreciated. I am DESPARATE

hi drubenstein,

Dont give up too easy.. It will be something small im sure..

Ok..

1. What Operation System (OS) are you running on your PC?
2. What Chip do you have installed in your xbox?
3. Have you got anything working AT ALL that WILL boot in your xbox?

Im guessing it will be a media problem.. Maybe you should try another brand of DVD-R, CDRW.. Smile

Let us know some more info..

I'm running windows XP
I have the aladin 64 chip
I have several things that will boot. The Evox DVDs that i have made will boot as well as another game that i made that is only 800MB. Also, some backups that a friend gave me will run just fine.

ok..

try this..

Here is a tutorial i have written that will create a XISO that you can read in any PC DVD-ROM DRIVE after creating it.. (not like a normal XISO) which cannot be read.

Burn XISO that can be READ in PC DVDROM
http://xbox-hq.com/html/xbox-tutorials-58.html

Try that for me.. Then us Nero to Burn the .ISO you create..
Make sure you download the latest version of NERO from the nero website.. If you already have NERO installed you can upgrade straight over the top of your existing installation of NERO..

Get back to me..

btw... are you trying to make a XISO of the same game all the time.. Try making a XISO of a different game.. Go and Hire one and rip it to your PC..

hope that helps mate

Thank you for the tips. I will try it out. I saw your tutorial last night and i was looking everywhere for PrassiPrimoDVD. I cannot find it anywhere. Do you know where i can find it? I have gotten the game to work, but it does not work everytime. I went out and got some Memorex DVD-RW disks and those have given me some success. The weird thing is, I can put in it and play, but it is very inconsistant. If I trun off the xbox and try and boot to the game again, it goes right into the EvoX dashboard with a Drive Status of Unknown. Sometimes i wil put it in and it will play right away. What could i be doing wrong that could make this happen? Again, it is very inconsistant.

I would like to be able to play DVD-R, but I will take what i can get.

Just a little update, i have been trying for about 1/2 an hour to boot the two games that I have. I am getting really confused. It makes no sense why it will work one time, then when i swap games, it won't work, then the game that did work, won't work anymore.
Here is the chip that I have:
http://www.console24.com/product_info.php/products_id/69

Could it have anything to do with the temperature of my xbox? right now it is showing MB temp at 107.6 and the CPU temp as 130.1.

Or could it be that the DVD player in the xbox is going bad? I have the Philips DVD player. Would that explain why I can play some games (not ones that I have burned), but not others?

i think its definately a media problem..! Sad

I had a phillips dvdrom drive in my last xbox and had nothing but problems too.. Just buy a couple of different brands until you find one that works 100%..

Another suggestion:
Look on ebay for another xbox drive.. They swap out no problem.

The SAMSUNG XBOX DVDROM reads cdr's.. if you can find one of them you will love it..

anyway, keep us in the loop.. Just try some different media and also BURN AT 1X (speed)..

I just think it's odd that sometimes you have success with a game, and then other times you do not. How could it be media if it works sometimes and doesn't the next. I always thought that if you burn on certain media, and it works...they you should have constant joy.

I would take forahobby's advice and check for a new drive maybe. How old is this machine by the way? I just replaced a drive in a friends machine because it was having issues. Sometimes he could play his Tiger Woods 2004, others he could not. It was very inconsistent, like yours. However, he would get dirty disk errors too. I found that his laser was probably too weak to read dual layer disks. It was probably just starting to go so I advised a replacement. They are super easy to swap out. BTW his is working fine now.

Hope you get it sorted.

I think that my Xbox has ADD or something. I have been playing games burrned onto DVD-RW and i have had no problems. A few times, the drive wouldn't recognize the disk, but after a few reboots (and virtual kicks) it started working fine.

All of the non-backup games play fine in the Philips DVD player. The backup games that my buddy brought me from Thailand work great and always have. I think my problem is that i am using DVD-R/RW. But the games i got from Thailand are on DVD+R. Everything that i have read says don't use the +R use the -R. Is there an exception with the Philips DVD player?

I would like to thank everybody that posted for all of your help. You were able to keep me from going bald from pullig out all my hair. What a great community.

Hey here is a list of dvd drives and best type of media that works.
Hope that it helps.

When burning for the Xbox, we best recommend Ritek DVD-R for all Xbox DVD-ROM drives.

Samsung Drive:
Reads all CD-R/RW
Reads all DVD-R/RW
Will not read DVD+R/RW

Thomson Drive:
Will not read CD-R
Will only read SOME (generally expensive media) CD-RW
Reads all DVD-R/RW
Reads all DVD+R/RW

Philips Drive:
Will not read CD-R
Will read SOME (generally expensive media) CD-RW
Reads all DVD-R/RW
Does not read DVD+R/RW

Cool Later
