Could anyone help me with this? iv bought the IR Mod from baldbouncer.co.uk but the install instructions are far too vague on his site and wfter much googleing i finally found an identical chip - reciever combo, but with different install instructions. my problem is that the new instructions appaer to be telling me to solder the pic chip topside directly to the legs of another chip already on the motherboard via six wires. no problem with this in theory (except the fear of scorching xbox components beyond use if i f it up) but surely there is an easier way,
has anybody else succesfully installed one of there or one like it wou could help me out?

Dunno, most of them look just like this unless you have a smartXX chip..which you dont. The smartXX chip is actually much easier...

the one modgod posted was the one i found on the bald bouncer site but i thought it was too vague so i wnt looking for another set of instuctions. the second one i found was the one posted by RIP1982 and the numbers on the chip seemed to match so i went ahead. after much painstaking soldering ended up with a xbox that would not turn on at all so i desoldered all the connections and ended up with an xbox that would not turn off! I realised that this must be that iv broken a connection from the control chip so the power signal was always "low" and thus "on" so i resoldered pin 18 on the cotroller and its back to normal now. Im about ready to give up on this, I dont know what im doing wrong and im not overly confident about soldering directly to a motherboard chip.

Anyone know when the official X3 IR is coming out? Sad
