whenever i play system link or even split screen alone to just check out the new maps............it takes a long time for me to load..... about 3 minutes each map.........at first i taught it was just cause the maps are new but now it happens to every old map too..........and this happenes when my disk is in...................i tried loading it without my xbox mod on and it still took a long time.........what should i do........is it my BIOS, my xbox cause my other burned games work fine or is it just my halo 2 disk itself cause i t is pretty scrathed!

No, it has nothing to do with the disk. If it was the disk, I would think it wouldn't load at all.
I'm not sure what could cause that... hopefully someone may have had the same thing happen and have some insight.

It could possibly be a dvd drive going bad. Had a Thompson that use to take forever, replaced it and works like it just came out of the box. _________________ Xbox v1.3

I get sort of the same thing except...wait its not really the same for me its in campaign, system link and multiplayer. The differance for me is that during the videos through out the whole game they load slowly and you can see the layers being loaded one at a time, but the video continues at normal speed so im fairly sure it isnt lagging... it makes for very weird videos.
I dont know if this is a problem that everyone gets but i have tried this with a friends disc and i get the same problems so it isnt just the disc... anyone got any ideas on a cause or a possible fix?

The problem you described was covered on bungie.net briefly in one of those update articles. It said something like you will experience longer load times as your Xbox needs to recache certain files. Once they're cached load times are a lot faster. The shared.map, single_player_shared.map, and a fonts folder gets cached when dealing with Halo 2, possibly some other file (I'm not the freakin wizard). Anyway, when you're not hooked up to live load each multiplayer map on split-screen and play it for 3 min each.
