OK firstly you need a modchip and some kind of dashboard to run your xbox (Evolution-X is a popular one).

Next, use a program like HDDLoader or Dvd2Xbox to copy the game off the Xbox DVD on to your HDD (btw you can use a normal sized hard drive to do this).

Now, you have to use the FTP Protocol in your Dashboard to transfer the ripped game back to your PC, via some kind of network connection.

(Sorry if this is getting complicated but you asked how it's done)...

Now, it's time to create a xISO, which can be done with various PC programs these days, just drop all the files from the game into the xISO.

The last step is very easy, burn the xISO to either a CD-RW, DVD-R, or DVD-RW. Any program like Nero or DVD Decrypter should do this no prob.

Then you have a backed up game, just remember to have your modchip turned on to play the game, and if it's using Xbox Live, DO NOT connect using that otherwise you'll be banned from Xbox Live.

Hope this helps...

Kudos to ya DJB... That was a nice thing to do for that post (even though I wasn't too pleased with his ending remark). Too many times I see on other forums where someone will ask that type of question and get blasted for not reading other posts, checking tutorials and such. I was just trying to find an answer for the other post where someone is backing up games larger than 4.7GIG and someone else asked the EXACT same question on another forum.

The answer that someone gave them was, "Hey, have you ever heard or played that game called SEARCH ENGINE"? Then everyone just joined in and bashed the poor soul that was only looking for help.

I have to say that this is one of the best bunch of modders around!

To the guest who made the post: If you are still unsure what to do, by all means post again and take some time and read some other posts, check the tutorials too. We have a glossary of terms for newbies that may suit you too. It helped me greatly as I still don't know what a lot of these terms mean. And, for future reference try not to use any offensive words in your post. Even though I know you were just joking around, some people may not think certain things are funny and get quite offended. We are here to help and on occasion when deserved, poke fun....but not offend.

Thanks realmccloy Smile

I think all of us here at Xbox-Hq have dealt with one time or another bad forums where they tell you to read manuals, search forums etc. and for one it pisses me off, especially if it's only a quick/simple question.

If we all look after each other here this will be the best community ever, mainly for the fact that our members will actually take time to write a decent post instead of "read the fucking manual lamer"...

No problem DJB, I agree totally! There are times that I will search and search for something and for whatever reason I can't find my answer. I don't want to have to be gun shy and afraid to ask a forum for help only to get the RTFM answer that you mentioned....it just blows to no end!

I have literally spent forty minutes looking for answers for other people on this site, only because I know that someone else would do the same for me......and, um, cuz I'm a noob myself and everything takes FOREVEVER to find...HA.

later guy!

Asmunch,

I'd use the term community over scene, as the scene spreads further than just this site. There are many different sites and even groups all around the world, and probably even a lot we don't even know about.

Also, Forums can be quite useful if you go to a good one, a forum really depends on it's community as far as friendliness goes, and I will definately say I've been to some really bad ones in my time. This would easily be the most active and more easy-going forum I participate in though... Smile

Fortunately for this forum, I learnt an international language at university when I enrolled in Hip Hop 101. I can now converse in languages outside the Queen's English. I shall translate...

When Mr./Ms. Thasav utters "shit", this actually means "item or items which I find displeasurable to me". If memory serves me correctly, the term "nigga" is a rather rudimentary term meaning much the same as our terms "friend", chap", or "mate". It is often confused with, but entirely separate from, the term "nigger", a derogatory phrase, not used in polite societies (such as xbox-hq) for members of society who happen to have extra melanin in their skin.

I'll second that! I've read a lot of stupid questions here (95% of which were MINE!) and never experienced the long, drawn-out diatribes you often find elsewhere.

I really appreciate all the help I've gotten here. Everyone's got a great attitude. I scan over over forums, but don't dare post! I often message the newbies, like myself, who get slammed on other boards and urge them to come here instead.

In other forums they'll spend a half-hour composing a rant about how you're wasting everyone's precious time by asking why this or that doesn't work, when a simple 2 second response like "did you turn off IGR?" would actually be helpful.

Why spend an hour searching tutorials (many of which are getting out-of-date) when a friend on xbox-hq can tell you the answer immediately?

hi guys,

Just a quick reply to thankyou all for the nice remarks and other comments..

I created this website as i was sick of the ranting and raving going on in just about every forum i was involved with. (you know where im talking about)

Over the first 9-10 months of the site i was adding over 50mb of pure xbox downloads each month all on 56k (hahahah).. Just about every question in the forums was also replyed to by me and all the tutorials, cheats etc were also added by myself. I have never and will never flame a user for asking a simple question as this is a waste of server bandwidth and my time. I would prefer to go into detail in every post rather then post only links..

At this stage I didnt even no another user with a xbox so it was hard to find the info and downloads i was looking to add to the site and also someone to play online..

Just before Christmas last year finally a Bestest mate of mine 'DJB' got a XBOX (thank god).. Well ive modded plenty of xboxes but never had a close mate with one.. Lately every mate i have has purchased a xbox but not all have the internet or know how to use a computer (eheheh dummies).

DJB then signed on as CO-Administrator and we haven't looked back.. The last 4-5 months alone have been overwhelming for myself and DJB with us hosting competitions and adding more and more sections to look after.. DJB's girlfriend is our graphician and did all of the different section logo's. (thanks scardeycat)

Well here we are.. Xbox-Hq.Com is growing rapidly and the members are really starting to pull their weight and adding content to the site daily.. This makes my job here a hell of alot easier (THanks Guys Laughing)

Anyway, Thankyou once again for the fantastic comments about the website.. If you would like to get more involved in the site we can offer
genuine members ADMIN ACCESS so they dont need to get their news, downloads, cheats, tutorials approved.. If anyone is interested please shoot me a pm..

Chat with you all soon guys..

from down under

regards

I'd also like to throw out thanks to all our members, especially all the members that are not afraid to post and help out the community. The main thing that keeps this community going it people helping people (I know, I've said it a million times Smile).

When Forahobby first designed this layout I showed interest, and joined up to check it out. I've seen it grow from a small forum with some news and downloads to a monster of a community with basically everything you'd need to know about the Xbox.

I'd also like to make a quick public thankyou to my "fiance" Scardeycat for helping out with the headers and graphics for this site. I know first-hand how much work and effort she put into doing the work, and from myself and the rest of the Xbox-Hq Community I'd like to sincerely thank you Smile

Special thanks must also go to our VIP FTP Server Admin Maddogtime. I understand there has been problems in the past with the server, but you have stuck with it despite all the negative responses. Cheers mate!

Well, we have now passed 12 months since this layout's birth, and if the growth rate of this site is the same for another 12 months we can make this the best Xbox Online Community ever, I truly believe it...

Cheers from the land of Kangaroos & Koalas Very Happy
DJB (Dwayne)
