Hey all... Now that I have a little more info under my belt I want to start enjoyng movies on my XBOX. After all, I got 120GIG to put stuff on. The first day that I got my machine I was able to backup DVD's on my HD, but soon found the terrible truth that I couldn't watch it. What is the easiest way to change a DVD to DiVX. This way, I can do the work on my PC then FTP over to my XBOX and watch via XBMP. Keep in mind for me easier is better. I don't have much experience ripping and converting DVD's to other media types...at all. Thanks

There are many different programs you can use to convert DVD -> DivX. One of the better tools I found when I was playing around with this was Gordian Knot, which is actually a bundle of different software put together in one neat little package.

Here's a link:
http://gordianknot.sourceforge.net/

This site has downloads and also tutorials on how to use the program.

Hope this helps...

Best place for tutorials and such is:
http://www.dvdrhelp.com

As far as getting DVD to Divx, it's actually very simple - time consuming, yes, but simple. You need 2 pieces of software: DVD Decrypter and Auto GordianKnot. Both of thos you can get at dvdrhelp.com as well as detailed instructions on how to do it.

I thought DVD Decrypter came with GordianKnot, or is the Auto version like a "lite" version?

Auto Gordianknot is a simplified version of Gordianknot - still as robust, just a simple interface. I don't think that DVD Decryptor comes with it though.

I'm not 100% certain as it's been ages since I've used those tools.

Maybe it was just the normal GordianKnot that had it...
