Hi, i need some advice again.....
I have my spiderchip1.1 working now, but only when i press evenly with my fingertips on the chip.....i will need to sort this out later.
My chip did not come with any bios, the screen was asking for the cromwell bios, so i installed the official cromwell bios, now i can't play any games or load any installer discs.
What do i do now?.....i tried a bios but nothing happened, it kept looking for the linux file to bootup.
Can someone tell me EXACTLY what bios i need to flash on my chip so i can load evoX and other dashboards, and install another HDD....PLEASE!!
Thanks for any help!

1) your spiderchip comes with the a spiderchip version of cromwell already on it. all you had to do was flash your chip with a hack bios that is compatible with your xbox and modchip.
the most popular bioses are:
xbox v1.0-v1.5:
x2 4983
evox m8plus
xbox v1.6-v1.6b:
evox m8plus_16
2) you need to make a bios disk to flash your chip:
but since it sounds like you flashed your chip with another version of cromwell you may not have the same screen as they have pictured.

Thanks for the reply.....very helpful information!
The screen that is in the tutorial is what i have already seen before, i flashed it with the official cromwell bios.....i think i may need the enhanced version of this bios to sort out my problem.....all i am getting is an option to load cd/dvd, HDD and an ethernet connection.
I dont know how i would go about flashing the chip from these options.
Any other help greatly appreciated!
Cheers!

1) what version/make of cromwell did you flash your chip with?
2) all you have to do is make a bios cd/dvd (which i gave you a link earlier on how to make one) and select flash from cd/dvd the dvd try will open then you pop yout bios cd/dvd in and it will flash your chip with the hack bios you put on the cd/dvd.

I am not getting that option now to flash the bios, as i already have done it.
All i get is 3 icons on the main screen....must be the official linux installer....i have delete the file...think it was version 2.44.
When i insert another disc with one of the bios you recommended....nothing happens!....it spits out the disc.
It tries to load linux installer cfg....(something like that)
How do i flash my chip again.
The spiderchip tutorial is not very thorough....it does not explain things very well.....that is why i am having so many problems.
Thanks again.

im not sure what to tell you i havent used that version of cromwell. you didnt need to flash your chip with another version of cromwell because it already had the spiderchip version on it which is optimized to make it easy to flash the spiderchip with another bios.
what are the 3 icons?
are the icons labled?
what file did you delete?
if it wont let you flash your chip from cd, network, or hdd you will need to use a programer or hot swap.

I don't know much about the spiderchip (i just worked on my first one yesterday ) I initially installed a bad bios and no longer had the spiderchip boot screen that requested a bios. I thought that I was screwed, but I used a stripped down autoinstaller that was pretty much for just the bios...
Put whatever 256 bios you want into the bios folder then burn to cd. Put in Xbox...cross your fingers...if it reads the disk you're in luck.
I hope this helps a little. Before you try this though, have you tried to run the offical autoinstaller? There should be a 256 bios that will work perfect for you.

My main screen has 3 large icons on it.....
1.CDROM
2. Etherboot
3. Advanced/video settings/HDD Menu/Reset menu
I have the Samsung drive that reads all disc, so i dont have a problem with blank media.
Everytime i put in an installer disc, bios or the file you have posted, i get this message...
1. Load disc then press A
2. loading Linuxboot.cfg
3. Checking CDRom
4. Check that Linuxboot Exists
5. Check CD failed
6. Linuxboot does not exist
Thanks for helping.

it sounds like your bios is tring to boot/install the linux os from a cd/dvd. then only thing i know to tell you is buy or find someone with a programer (you can even send it back to the seller if you cant find one) so they can flash your chip woth the proper bios. or you can try hot swapping which has the risk of damaging your chip or xbox.

hey I had the same problem since I did the same thing. Your chip is working fine, except it is looking for a legal linux versiion instead. You can avoid using a programmer by installing linux as in this link:
