Can anybody help me connect my laptop to the xbox? I am using a crossover cable to connect them together. And in the xbox setting it says that they are connected. But when i use FlashFXP to connect, it keeps on saying that the connection timed out. I disabled the xp firewall and it still wont work. Also in the xbox settings on the very top where it says ip, it says 0.0.0.0 and you cant change it. But below that it also says ip and 192.168.0.3 and you can change it.

hi,
well you can setup a STATIC ip address by entering your ip address like you have done. e.g 192.168.0.3..
Then choose your subnet mask which would be 255.255.255.0 if you use the example above.
You must also turn STATIC ON.. Then reboot your xbox..
You should then be able to ftp into your xbox with no probs using flashfxp..

I turned on the static ip and everything started working fine, thanks for helping. But I have more trouble. The dvd drive in the xbox is really messed up. I wont read any games that I put in. On the main evox screen on the very top it keeps on saying no disk. I tried all kinds of ways to put it in but it always says no disk. It worked before, but just recenly it stopped working. I also cleaned the lens but that didnt help either. Does anybody have any ideas? Please reply!

What version xbox do you have. They have used a couple different dvd drives depending on the version of xbox. Each dvd drive has been know for their own problems. We need that info first before we can help fix it. _________________ XBOX v1.0:

I took the xbox back to the guy who modded it for me and he fixed it for me in like 5 minutes. It turned out that the wires connecting the dvd drive were very loose and he moved them around and it started to work very good. Also I took the xbox into a game store and they cleaned the lens, which made that scraching sound go away. So now if anybody has problems with the dvd they will know that the first thing they should do is check to see if the wires are connected good and then clean the lens because that worked for me.
