I haven't purchased an xbox mod, just too much money to risk getting it off a website ect... I have heard diveno was a good website, which i am interested in the xenium ice solderless, i know there are in about a year you probably have to re-connect it because of the bagging around. I just am not sure. There is also another way i heard from a friend, he mentioned that he putted a dvd drive, of some kind in. So he just buys games for 10$ a piece, and uses it to play the burnt games, and it works fine on xbox live. I am unsure of this, and if it is possible where to buy, and what has to be done.

thanks

You can NOT jut put a DVD drive in a stock xbox (even if it is modded to fit) and read burned games. The original xbox BIOS only reads signed code (ie original games, dvds, ect). Chips, softmod, and TSOP flash all replace this BIOS with a hacked one that CAN read unsigned code. So unless youre friends box is modded with more then just a new DVD drive, its not possible. If you post a reply concerning which method youd like to go with (if any at all) I would be glad to walk you through it. I have a xenium ICE solderless and it works like a charm, even on xbox live. Oh forgot to add I just used a longer screw that goes into the case (shaved off the tip after it was tight and poked through the bottom) and my chip hasnt moved in over a year..

Not all websites are scammers either...

Before I started a modding site I too was skeptical, but eventually found someone whom I trusted.

Basically, bug the shit out of someone. If they are a scammer, they won't want anything to do with you. I must've emailed this one guy a hundred times and he patiently answered all of my questions. Plus, from the converations I had with him, I could tell he wasn't just some young kid trying to scam money. He was a professional adult and ran a pretty tight ship.

Before you settle on what to do, if you venture out there to purchase a mod. Just be educated. Know what you are getting. Find out if there are warrantis on the products you are buying, find out what type of support they offer. A lot of modders won't give you a phone number. They say it's because they don't want to be pestered....well, if someone is giving me thier money, then they have a right to pester me.

Don't get me wrong, support tickets are good too because there is a record of the support you were given, but at the same time, it is sometimes easier just to walk someone through something on the phone. I offer phone support to all of my customes who ask, whether it's about buying or troubleshooting. I don't mind.

Also, dont let someone just sell you a modded xbox with a certain size HD and leave it at that. Find out how it is modded. Does it have a chip, if so what is the chip. You wont beleive the amount of people that buy a mod thinking they have a chip and it turns out to be softmodded or a TSOP flash.

Read up a little bit and learn the benefits of having a mod chip, softmod, or TSOP flash. Learn the downfalls of each too. Make sure you communicate exactly what you want to do with this machine to your modding profiessional who is making the mod for you. If you ask the right questions, there is no reason why you should have a bad experience purchasing a mod online.

Good luck to you.
