Instal Softmod (a VERY cheap alt. to a mod chip)

depends on what kind of chip and what box you have..if you want i now am flashin TSOP's, which is basically a modchip without the chip..and that will save you at least around 50$ because you wont need a chip..let me know what you are thinking _________________ RIP suprnova.org !

Unless you have a v1.0 TSOP flashing will NOT allow multip,le BIOSes. So yes if youve got a hacked one you can do everything a modchip can EXCEPT go live. The TSOP flash also doesnt have other features avalible with modchips (ie the Xenium OS or programmers so you can easily flash a new BIOS). TSOP flashes can't be moved form box to box either. IF you fry your mobo with a chip you can at least use the chip again. Don't mean to hurt your biz in anyway just dont want any horro stories of people ordering TSOP flash and not knowing all the ups and downs. lol dude with a 1.0 flashed tsop you can go on live, its called a split tsop, 2 512kb bios and a switch not too hard
hmm there isnt too many downs of a flashed tsop either, you can flash new x2 bios but there is really no need, it does everything you need...and you wont fry anything as long as you arent an idiot and just dont mess around with stuff..and if the mobo frys yes you can take your modchip but you paid for it, you didnt pay as much for the tsop so that makes sense _________________ RIP suprnova.org !

Yes Ive done switches before...that why I said unless you have a v1.0 you cant go live. I didnt mean to sound negative. If you dont need to go live and are just looking to backupgames to the HD or play backups on DVD then TSOP flash is for you. If youre too poor to buy a chip then get a TSOP flash.
Thats the case with many of my friends (sadly enough). I just highly support people doing it themselves as I think the knowledge you gain is inbelievable. _________________ Xbox v1.0

its cool, i understand...but some people dont have the tools or skill to mod their xbox..and dont really want to screw up theirs..i mean its not lik im going to over charge this guy, i like to do stuf cheap because im not doin this to make tons of $..i enjoy doing this _________________ RIP suprnova.org !

I totally understand...hobbies (such as this) easily turn to obsession. I just have heard too many horror stories and complaints about noobs not doing their research before they buy and being dissapointed. well ive softmodded, tsop flased, and chipped...i mean ya chipping is always better...but not too much different than tsop flashing, some advantages but then there is the cost of the chip..and always softmodding sucks..its free pretty much but lots of disadvantges _________________ RIP suprnova.org !

i think, i did have a chip in it at
one time but couldnt get any of my
media to boot it.
so i ended up softmoding it.
what are all the disadvantages of

well if you ahve the points i could walk you through flashing a new bios on there...well softmodding you can just boot unlocked hard drives, they freeze for no reason, if you dont know what you are doing you can mess something up, some games i copy to my hdd wont play on softmodded boxes _________________ RIP suprnova.org !
