if ya want a modchip try http://kangamail.com for a 9 wire modchip ready to go.. (APPLEXV)..
Normally people charge around $150-$200 to install the chip no matter what type it is.. Just so they can replace you xbox if they bump the motherboard with the soldiering iron..

Welcome, its great to see new poeple coming in.
I just modded my xbox myself without knowing anything before I came to this site. And let me tell you, theres lots of people ready to help.

I just got my xbox to cooperate with my chip last night and boy is it ever worth it!!
It roxxor (god i hate that ubergeek lingo) - lol
My chip is the non-solder XBIT - a lot of trouble to fit for some including me but man its good once you get it right..
Im a newbie meself but if theres anything just holler
