I just figured out and is 95% percent sure that my XBOX is v.1.6; the manufacturing date, the DVD drive, and the kernel version seems to point that way, at least.

Yet, how was I able to easily install a softmod from this site?

I'm not puzzled as to why it's not working; I'm puzzled that it is working. How?!?

Any version of Xbox can be softmodded.
