ok im so close its not even funny, especially to me who has been at this for like 2 weeks now. i am going with the mechassault softmod. and it worked fine, i booted up and ran linux, im at the evox screen and i see
: reboot
power off
system utilities
- settings
- flash bios
- backup
i ftped right in with no problem and have complete access to my harddrive. supposedly im supposed to rename the 2 xtf files and replace them with the bert and ernie ones, and then comes some phoenix loader and an autoinstaller. this is where i get lost. basically im looking at all my drives on my xbox and all i need to know is exactly which files have to be changed and to what. i have already tried changing the xtf files and it will still let me load a game, it will go to an 21 error message if i try to boot to a dashboard. i went ahead and backed everything up so i can start over as many times as it takes. and my biggest problem which could be my whole entire issue is that i cant get the file xbedump to run on my computer, it just opens and shuts. can i download an already signed file or what. im so close could someone please help me. thankyou

I recommend using the ltools installer from the exploits section in the downloads. This will automatically install the fonts, the boot loaders, and also the dashboard of your choice. You need to transfer the ltools_v1.8_rc1.zip file to the memory card like you did before, then copy it to the hard drive, then also get the ltools_dashes.zip file and then everything should be golden. _________________

XBEDump.exe is a commandline program, try running it in a dos prompt to see its options
