im re-doing my box's this week, dusting them out, checking the clock caps (3/4 blown already) i decided to put my v1.6 into the lounge with component cable etc, i used autobuilder v5.1 everything works great but the settings wont stick for 720p i used enigma to switch to ntsc but it keeps popping back to pal.

idk it could be the cap on this one too (i plan on re-locating or replacing them all)

i went to go into msdash and it error 21's ive had this problem before and replaced the config. shadowc enabled (c: is 0 bytes) and starting E:\Backup\MS\xboxdash.xbe goes to e21 as well

could this be a, one time, bad install? (i will try installing again in the mean time and update here if it fixes it)

i would wait for the usb installer but i have angry wife and kids breathing down my neck lol

^^ hmm? (adding "waifu and kiddu" into the mix will surely hinder things, especially on here!)
okay, go into the stock M$ da$h and look at the video settings...
should be a 16.9 ratio mode!
use that then reset back to custom da$h then make your screen changes there!
(it's what i do on every xbox i've modded for the first time/replaced hdd! i've had no choice because i get the same situation as you if i don't go the M$ da$h route first to lock it in!)
.......
if this doesn't work then it could be down to a component busted but i don't see how as an "eeprom" is fixed/non-adjustable" by power drop! no power is needed for the video eeprom config to remain in effect....
......
if there's another way or i'm overlooking something, then others can assist you as i'm at a loss as to why it's wouldn't stick! (aside my above)
.....
[edit]...saw your M$ bit!
use the SPPV xbmc installer to replace the M$ da$h then....
Code:
http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/downloads-cat110.html

.....
you need to remove/DISABLE shadowC before any changes will remain in effect! (OS changes, NOT eeprom) do that first...

the 1.6 machine is actually the kids one so they are waiting for the one in the lounge to free up lol i had a feeling something would go wrong and id be stuck so wifey still has hers going luckily haha.

im re-smodding right now so i will try config fix first then if it fails try xbmc installer. failing that the kids can have it back as they just use composite pal.

thanks amiga.

glad i have 2 spares i can rotate them like tyres when i do maintenance LOL

^^ no sweat!
but remove/DISABLE shadowC before you do anything or you'll not be able to set the desired changes!
as it happens, shadowC IS good if you leave the console in the care of the wife and kids, they can't f*ck it up, access the C:/ volume but that same restriction will halt you so disable shadowC, then try a cfg change before you start replacing/redoing any da$h files... Wink Wink

^^ in that case, do a quick C:/ volume rebuild making sure you've NO shadowC in play! (but at that point, i would recommend supervision if shadowC is redundant till babylon)
you'll still have your xbhdm/autobuilder disk for the console, just rebuild C:/ volume and you're rocking!
(when i first experimented with shadowC, i tested it to DESTRUCTION, it works as intended and aside the mod having a "disable" shadowC, i had to rebuild the hdd C:/ volume from scratch to remove it! only took ten mins!)
