Hi all,
I got these errors when I tried to visit atreyu187's dreamcast threads:

^^ i've been there with a few other threads that behaved like what you described!
last i was told, it's a server/site load issue...time of day, traffic thing!
i can view the threads no problem (at the moment)
try again later, should remedy itself...

Something up with the site, shit takes forever to load for me. Chances are Hobbs or Tweaked are messin around with the server

There was something strange happening earlier today which I thought was something going wrong with sql at first. Did a database, repair restart and then started hunting down the logs. Turns out there was a DOS attack against the hq site. I restarted the server (something rarely ever done) because some services were offline then also restarted the switch just to get out of the hits and then immediately logged in console to turn on the DOS protection of the firewall as the server turns up. It's not left on all the time because if active in normal use it causes extra load. Why the heck would someone try a DOS attack on HQ?
I thought DOS attacks only shut a site down so that it is inactive?
What's the point of doing that unless you have a grudge against someone?

not making light of your question but seriously, you'd be surprised!
that's not to say anything bad about here, quite the reverse!
when you (the site and userbase) offer a good grade of knowledge/support, you'll ALWAYS get some C#$% shitstabbig crap about you, saying things that aren't true, maybe even ddos attack because they're just that petty!
i can think of one place RIGHT NOW that would have a crack! (not saying though)
doubt they'd be smart enough to pull it off but the contempt is there so never underestimate the possibility!

Now that you mention it SPPV has banned some people.
Maybe one of them was mad about getting banned and had enough knowledge and free time to try it.
