hello
I am metalgearsolid6669
I am in the prosses of trying to softmod my xbox. and I have got a small
problem. I have a original copy of MechAssault that was released with the xbox. ive tried different gamesaves,but none have worked. what I am trying to ask, has there ever been a patched version gamesave released..?

^^ are you using the actual SPECIFIC mechassault gamesave! (i'll have a look for it onsite, it maybe in VIP section and if so, you'll have to sign up to VIP to get at it! if i recall, the SPPV sid mc package 5.11/5.12 + usb variant" was at "that" place)
OR...
do you have a RETAIL copy of "tom clancy's splinter cell" to hand?
if so, get the corresponding save to it and try again!
there's also a TUTORIAL section here, look to the upper right of the site UI in the BLACK BAR, FAR RIGHT UNDER LOGIN!

if you have an NTSC mechassault gamesave then NTSC game to kick it off with...SAME goes for all the "sid" mc/usb range!
get the correct corresponding game and save then run!
i had a peep at youtube and i recommend you watch the relevant part of THIS video and apply it to your mechassault game and the CORRECT exploit for it!
the video is for "splinter cell" but you get the idea! (look for SPPV softmod vidz as well)
the video i've linked is the full whammy, from SOFTMODDING a retail console to banging a larger hdd inside it!
only use the softmod part!

^^ i've never used that save or ever had a retail version of that game!
is it possible you could try the "splinter cell" exploit?
the game goes for a fair price (next to nothing really) and i'm not shooting in the dark here! (anymore)

can you be a bit more specific please? what do you mean "it's not working" .....does it crash the console for example? (BSOD it even)

Hey MetalGearsolid6669,
If you want an updated version of Softmod installer deluxe (commonly called SID) version 5.12 is available in the downloads area on XBOX-HQ.
You will need to register on this site in order to download it, but trust me you'll be happy you did down the road, if you proceed with softmodding your xbox.
You will have to extract the files from SID in a specific way. It all depends on what method you are using.
Are you putting the hacked gamesaves on a USB flash drive or an xbox memory card?
P.S. I strongly recommend you watch the how to softmod an xbox and put in a bigger hard drive video. The steps have simplified since then, but the basic principles are still the same.

above poster is right about xtras but that same package is at TIZ and when SPPV uploaded it, he pm'd me straight away and i jumped on it...my comment on the item still exists! well after I get the MechAssault save and the sid5 installer copyed to the hdd. and then when I got to select campaign. I see Linux so I click on that
and the error I keep getting is "cannot run Linux"

For 5.12 you must use Xplorer360 to load the save file on. Simply use FATX Formatter to format your USB FATX then run Xplorer360, and inject the first numbered folder in the 5.12 Zip to the USB, and inject the numbered folders of the game you wish to use (007, MA, SC)

^^ if i recall correctly, you have to expand the "SID511.Installer.zip" file AS WELL as the exploit...this contains that "linux profile" you're missing!
i had to add that item to the splinter cell mc, it worked for that too...
expand the "SID511.Installer.zip" with the "SID511.Loader.MechAssault.zip" and copy those two UNPACKED items to the mc as you have done before! (blank the mc first then copy them TWO item over to the mc)
[edit]...just occured to me!
have you got any actual mechassault GAMESAVES on the console? (normal saves)
if so, DELETE THEM ALL!
i wasn't able to do the splinter cell hack because of a savegame file stopping me! (same error message you got)
get shut of all gamsaves to mechassault and make sure the ONLY two entries for mechassault is the exploit and the linux profile....

That's the error message you get when using the patched V of MA. It's original only for it and 007. Get splinter cell1 all versions of it work fine

I just remembered something bigtime about my xbox..it was already modded because I got it from sinsic30 from tiz. my son erased everything from my hdd . is there a way to ftp to the xbox the way it is and see whats wrong with it.? or should I just wait 11 hrs to see if I win a copy of splinter cell from ebay for 99 cents....thanks

can you still boot into a BACKUP disk game?
if so, look for SPPV's XBMC INSTALLER then....(bootup that XBMC disk on the xbox)
1, create a backup disk with the above mentioned app......
2, create an "MSDA$H" backup in the embedded options of XBMC! (app has a retail copy/backup of dash on disk)
3, create an EEPROM backup using the embedded AVALAUNCH option...
4, install the desired dash from the options available!
sorry bud but you fucked up by....
leaving your "child" to mess with the console is a big NO-NO!! (SUPER GLUE SNIFFER MOD you'll need if you let kids on your console without ADULT supervision....mod coming SOON)
get the SPPV XBMC installer and create a new dash install!
that's my bit...i'm out!
the community can help from here on in!

well I have no backups to try everything I have now is original but I did try
going into the settings and click on network settings I get a nice black and green screen with error 21

MAKE a backup then! (and try booting it up on the xbox)
1, get SPPV's XBMC INSTALLER and write that to disk using IMGBURN!

(there's also a "SEARCH FORUMS" text entry box to the upper-right of site UI under the red VIP tab...USE IT!)
..........i looked onsite and found THIS by simply typing "error 21" into the site search bar!
..........
IF you're unable to BOOT into the XBMC INSTALLER disk (the one mentioned above) then there's two ways you can go about a recovery attempt if option "1" is a failure..(and this is the last time i put out)
............
2, as you can still boot an original RETAIL game, get HALO 2 (or google for xbox games with embedded dash update present) and update the dash as you would back in the day for the xbox (when it had live) and THEN, do the SPLINTER CELL softmod using the above posts to direct you!

3, REBUILD the hdd in a compatible computer HAVING the console EEPROM.BIN to hand! USE SPPV'S AUTOBUILDER AND READ THE ENCLOSED INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USAGE! (and youtube for autobuilder tutorials/usage too)
other than "hotswap" (which i'm not going into, WAY too risky and it's not on my head) you're pretty doomed!
as long as you can do one of the above (in this response/post) you're sorted!
