I have an xbox that I modded using sk8er251cc's video off youtube to install xbmc4xbox and installed a larger hard drive. I got everything installed (emulators, roms, etc) and played games for a while. I unplugged the power for a couple of days. When I plugged it back in, I get a black screen with no boot or error codes. I've read it could possibly be a issue with the clock. Is there a way to fix without reinstall? Will I have to leave it plugged up forever:)? Thanks for any help. This is my first xbox mod. While it worked, I loved it!

That sounds like an issue with either the AV cord or AV port. SID doesnt require the clock to be set, also it should hit you with a Service Required E16 screen if its a clock set issue. Does the LED on the front come on when you turn on the XBOX?

Considering the lack of video your best bet if it is infact a software issue is to grab AutoBuilder5.1 and use it to rebuild the HDD. This will upgrade you our latest version of SID (5.12) install XBMC and emulators with roms (if you want em)

But honestly this doesnt sound like software error.

Do you hear the HDD reading? If it does when you don't insert a game, it means it has loaded the dash, so that would eliminate the possibility of this being a software issue.

I can hear the drive reading. I also get the xbox splash screen w/ sound at the boot , so it's not a video issue. Should have posted that first.

After the splash, the screen goes blank. The lights on the front blink red-orange-green constantly.

Thanks for any suggestions/solutions.

Thats good, you dont want to use the SHadowC off AID, its buggy. If using AID or any SID edition prior to 5.12 stay away from Shadow C. If you want to update to 5.12 or use ShadowC grab XBMC Installer and use it

Is there an option I should use on the AID cd to repair the install? Should I just reinstall from the cd?

Any ideas what could have caused this? The only thing I did to it was unplug it for about a week and when I went back to use it, nothing would boot.

When you have AID in, go to its filemanager and check E\BackUp\MS. If you have the M$ backup first use the filemanager to replace the contents of C partition with the contents of the Backup MS folder. Now hit install single-boot softmod.

If you want an easy 1 click fix with the softmod locked down use this http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownloaddetails&lid=1406

I'm going to try and download that file you suggested. I'm probably doing something wrong. I replaced the backup to C, but when I install softmod, it says it is about to format the C drive, which would make the backup copy useless.

Anyway, I tried to reinstall with AID and at reboot, got the same blank screen.

I used AID and installed unleash x. dash seems to be booting fine. Tested several emulators and all are working.

I also unplugged the power last night. Plugged it in this morning and all was fine. I guess that did it!

Thanks for all the help. I'm looking forward to doing more mods in the future.

I have several emulators that when selected from the menu, seem to cause a software reboot (unleash logo comes up and goes to main screen).
I thought that it was just because there were no roms loaded for that emulator, however, it also does it on surreal 64 and I do have roms loaded for Nintendo 64. I did a file explore and noticed that there were several .xbe files. Usually I only see the default.xbe file for emulators. Should I delete all but the default or is the issue something else?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Try clearing your E:\Cache folder and your X:\, Y:\ and Z:\ partitions. Hopefully that will fix your emulator issues.

Do I use AID to clear the cache for E:/ or is that something within UnleashX I can use? With X:, Y:, Z: partitions, how do I clear/clean them? Delete all data on the partition? Thanks so much for the help.
