Post subject: Game Save manager that works to transfer game saves
Reply with quote

I have multiple soft modded xboxes all with FTP acces.

I want to transfer my game saves between the xboxes without using sneakernet and memory cards.

Found a defunct program that appears to be perfect for my needs. Xbox-Saves Manager.

I transferred a game save from my bedroom box to my server computer using the software (burnout 3 save). Then used the program to transfer the save back to my living room xbox. Burnout 3 won't load that save now, says its corrupt and can't load it even though it sees it.

Any suggestions?

Some games used a DRM protection that tied the save to the xboxs eeprom mmaking them useless to transfer. Its rare but they do exist.

For an app to manipulate saves try Craxtion4. Its an FTP, XISO manipuator and game save manager all in one. I pretty sure we have it in our download section or homebrew section.

Can this Craxtion4 program be used to say, resign downloaded content? Such as the Yavin IV DLC for KOTOR? Also, are you saying that there's no way to resign Burnout 3 saves?

eeprom locked saves has nothing to do with signing. Every XBOX has a unique eeprom key stored on its motherboard and service layer of the HDD.

For editing saves there are things lie KOTOR save editor but thats to give yourself a million bucks, free amo and shit like that. Theres also Habibi signing which is what we use to sign the saves for softmodding so the xbox will accept them. And no Craxtion does not sign saves, its like a homebrew FTP action replay and CXBOX-Tools rolled in one

I wanted to mod a friend's xbox by transferring the SID save and Linux splinter cell profile that appear on my modded xbox (after hitting 'boot softmod menu and using SID) to a regular M$ memory card.

When I go to the game saves manager in UnleashX, Evox or XBMC, select a game save then hit, 'copy' it prompts me to insert a memory card.

When I insert a memory card into the controller and try selecting 'copy' again, I still get the message saying 'insert memory card.' What am I doing wrong? I've tried using an M$ mem card and a 3rd party one. Both don't appear to be recognized by my softmodded xbox.

So Burnout 3 saves are only good on the Xbox they came from? Unless you move the eeprom chip onto another Xbox motherboard or whatever I saw on xbox-scene.

Also, what about downloaded content? How would you go about getting that stuff on another Xbox, if you wanted to do that?

^^ IF USING UNLEASHX, try plugging in an mc so it jumps straight to the filehandler directory root. (may jump straight to mc root?) if not, open UNLX "filebrowser" and the mc should be "volume J:/" (if plugged into the first socket on pad 1 of 4, slot A-1)....CLEAR IT and look for the softmod files on the xbox hdd (the exploit and it's profile header, maybe in location E:/TDATA/00000000" or something like that?) and copy it manually to the mc!
if that fails, goto stock green micro$hat da$h and do a usual retail style mc backup of the softmod exploit....(should be two item entries)
[edit].....@ halofan102.
[edit again]....format the mc in the $tock da$h before you copy the exploit to it!
[edit even moreso]...i've two thrid party mc's that HATE a softmodded da$h but work fine in the m$ da$h...

You dont want to use those saves once theyve been used for install they get modified. FTP new saves to your XBOX. Through em in apps or something then use the file anager to load them onto the mem card

@ SPPV,

Thanks for letting me know not to use the SID files sitting in game saves after modding.

Will just ftp the original numbered files for SID that I got from Xbox-HQ VIP Downloads to my xbox, then use the file manager to send them over to a virgin M$ memory card.

So if you wanted to get your downloaded content and keyed game saves from one Xbox to another, and have it work, how would you go about that? Or is it possible?

@SPPV

Thank you for the suggestion.

I realized that when plugging in the memory card. UnleashX will call it drive 'H' or 'I' if you plug the card into the top or bottom memory card slot of the controller respectively.

Then I was able to FTP the SID 5.11 and the splinter cell NTSC files to the virgin M$ memory card.

I'd like to add a tutorial to xbox hq that describes the process with text, pictures and screenshots. Who has final say on whether a tut is factually correct and may be published on here? You or Hobbs?

Cheers!

both of us do Halofan, Usualy though it will be me as Hobbs has other stuff to worry about like the actual coding/runing of the sites. Usualy I handle tuts, downloads, banning and VIP support tickets.

Actual gamesaves themselves are different Sunshinedrip. With the sid saves they actualy get expanded after they hit the HDD making them not fit on a memcard, also certain things in them get changed frm their original state once theyve been used for a mod.

Most DLC and saves can simply be transfered from one XBOX to another no issue. Its just ones that use eeprom locking that wont work. Just a lame security feature. I know virtualy all XBOX Live arcade DLC works fine. We also have a ton of other DLC on the VIP FTP which would probably be the easier route for that as doing it from your XBOX means searching through TDATA and trying to ID the fies
