Hi Smile
I get Xbit modchip, but without external switch and one pogo pin is missing.
I installed modchip on 1.2 console (I used pinheader, D0 connected do GND), but it's fragging.
Is there a possibility to make custom switches?
Where to solder wire from D0?
What type of diode should I use for stealth mode installation?
Xbit can be flashed with hotflash metod? I get "flash not writeable" error...

Thanks in advance!

I know next to nothing about the Xbit, but from what I've read you need the PCB that goes outside the console to flash the chip. You're missing that chip, right?

Yep, external board is missing. But it looks like there are only USB port, dip switch, and one other element (capacitor?). Maybe it will be possible to create this board myself?

This post should help you bypass the PCB and flash the chip:http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=685478

Thanks!
I managed to find external board pinout. I want to rebuild this PCB, but I don't know what is this small element and where is it connected (red circle)... If you now any person with this board and multimeter, I would appreciate.

I think you're going to have a hard time figuring out what that piece is. I haven't seen anyone with an Xbit chip since I've joined this site almost 6 years ago. Finding someone that has one of these PCB's is going to be difficult, if not almost impossible.

The link I posted will work without even building a PCB. You bypass it by wiring the yellow cable directly to the contact points on a USB cable.

This site here gives you a layout of a USB cable pinout:http://www.beyondlogic.org/usbnutshell/usb2.shtml. My above link tells you which wire on the yellow cable needs to be soldered to a USB cable.

Hopefully this helps Smile

I soldered wires according to pinout in post above and topic on Xbox-Scene.
And...
It seems work Smile But not fully, I have a problem with Xbit software. I've read it has problem under Windows XP, I need to try on Windows 98.
Red circled element is just a LED I think. So I'm going to rebuild this PCB fully, with DIP switch, LED, and separate USB connector.
But firstly I have to flash this modchip.
I will post here if my idea succeed (or not).

Thanks again!

You don't have to make an LED. It looks as if it's purely some indicator and doesn't control anything. I could be wrong.

Looks like a fairly simple job. Good luck.

Never heard of Xbit. Some proper old modchip?

First step accomplished! I've flashed XBIT and it boots properly from default bios bank. Thanks to my mum (she has an ancient PC with Win98 in office and following my phone instructions managed to flash XBIT) Smile

Next step will be soldering DIP switch and LED Smile I won't order PCB, it's too expensive. I will just solder wires and make it looking acceptable Smile

I know LED is unnecessary, but I want it.

Finished!
I've found old universal PCB, so I cut it and paint to black. I soldered everything together: USB, DIP switch and LED.

My custom board works! I can enable/disable Xbit and select bios bank.

Here is complete diagram for external board (based on Team DMS photo, I made description):

Here are many picuters and software for Xbit (everything I've found in the Internet):

Finally, here are photos of my board (it isn't perfect... but it works Smile )

That looks pretty darn good actually! You should make a tutorial and submit it to our tutorial section just in case someone else needs this information Smile
